What, if any, are the legalities of poll-watching?

Are there limitations on what you can do? I know there is on what you can say, as in "campaigning" in a polling area.

Can you videotape?etc.?

I sent this as FReepmail to some people earlier. As it pertains to Dem Plans to "get out the vote", I will post it here. ----

I just went to vote on a bright and sunny day and was feeling pretty good, but then I tuned to NPR on the radio and heard something troubling.

Actually, I noticed earlier that NPR has been in full gear all day trying to help the Dems. I am sure this will continue through election day, but what I heard at 3:15 today was disturbing. Apparently, I tuned in at the middle of feature NPR was doing, touring the country talking to various "get out the vote" coordinators for the Dems.

The first interview I heard was mildly amusing. The Missouri domocrat get out the vote lady said, "We will get them to the polls by hook or by crook." She actually said that! The NPR host quickly corrected her and said, "You can't say that. You mean just 'by hook.'" She responded, "We will do it any way we can."

But then they went to Texas and talked to the Sanchez guy. This is when I got worried. Sanchez has rented OVER 300 vans for election day. The guy said, "There were 1,054,000 registered Hispanic voters in Texas as of 60 days ago who have never voted at all. We are going to go door to door on election day and tell them Tony is personally asking for their vote." Sanchez has spent over 60 million of his own dollars on this race, and he apparently intends to win it.

Anyway, we know voter turn out is key in all the races, and I thought I would let you know the Dems are going all out-- as reported by NPR.

I hope that those people are paying their taxes and that their employer (the DNC) is paying FICA on that money.

Since it says "all day" and it is $50, it sounds like it will at least meet minimum wage requirements (but sometimes such offers do not; one knock&drag effort I read about had the man in charge threaten to not pay any of the staffers because someone had stolen the hammer that the team was using).

We Republicans are doing the same thing in Colorado. If you are interested, call 303.830.2002 and tell them you want to volunteer for the 96 hour team!

It's actually a test program partly financed by the RNC, the state party, and by the Owens Allard and Beaupreaux campaigns. If it works, you may see it in your state in 2004.

The last mayoral election in Houston was won by a nationally organized DNC knock & drag effort. Those vans went by the same homes again and again. One man said that the paid volunteers came by his house 3 times to make sure that he voted.

At what point does this become an intimidation to get people to vote "the right way"? Some black districts turned in 98.5% support for the incumbant black mayor (a Rat).

A white woman who lived (or had a business) in North Houston was confronted this year by a Rat scampaign van team. They wanted to put a Sanchez sign on her property. She told them no and that she is a Republican. Things got heated. The van came around again and when her dog went into the street got run over by their van. They hit the dog a couple of times. I saw a local Fox News report on the incident but did not find it in the Houston Comical.

Between Hillary's teamster "goon squad" patrolling crowds for dissenters and these teams in the vans, the Rat machine has modelled their own muscle on the Nazis' Brown Shirts.

I'm poll watching on election day in San Antonio. I think this renting vans is a common practice here. When I went to my training they were joking about making sure our cars are gassed up. Evidently some prior year the vans ran out of gas.

What are RATS gonna do if a guy shows up with his little hammer and sickle lapel pin, gets the canvassing job, but hands out Republican flyers instead of RAT flyers? Fire him? Hmmm . . .

Do they pay in cash?

Do you have to be a legal resident to canvas the neighborhoods? Illegals can't "legally" vote but they can still contribute to the "get out the vote" effort.

Maybe we should FReep them with such questions, tape the calls, and turn them over to the press...

Here's a democrat who finds it odd that she still is on the voter rolls in SC even though she moved away and that someone is keeping her active.

There have to be active names of known democrats on the rolls so they can have multiple names for repeat voters.
