The other thread is running over 2800 posts...so here's a new place to post for Sunday.
Per FOXNews, a 10am EASTERN news conference is planned. Two travelers pulled off I-95 for dinner at a Ponderosa Steak House. The Man, 37, was shot in the gut while his wife stood next to him.
Bullet has NOT been removed from the man while, after surgery, he remains in Critical but GUARDED condition, however, x-rays are expected to provide some dimensional analysis of the slug. Further surgeries may be required on the victim, according to FOX and then the bullet is likely to be recovered.
Meanwhile, the "white" box truck/van that was found with a "Shell" in it at Dulles is reported to be a 7.62 (.030'??) OLD shell and NOT expected to be part of the "Sniper Shootings".
Multiple LEA's are now in Ashland, VA located about 80 miles south of DC to begin more site investigations at first light of dawn.
Numerous witnesses in the area saw the man fall down and provided aid to the man. The man was still conscious and spoke during the rescue. According to (spit) CNN, there will be NO news conferences from the hospital.

Oh yes, sure, There must be a pay phone there. Wow, this is intriguing.
To: hole_n_one
it could have been a message left on the Ponderosa's answering machine. You know those nasty practical jokes, like ordering a thousand magazine subscriptions for somebody you don't like? Man, leaving a fake message for Moose could really ruin your enemy's day.

Wow! Excellent post.
I agree the FBI is not trained or capable of dealing with terrorism. And, IMO, it's not liberal laws tying their hands behind their back either. It's that they just don't have the training and institutional procedures in place to deal with this type of threat. (For example, they don't have invasive interrogation techniques - something we were all previously happy about, but now ....)
I disagree about Moose being a buffer. I think that the reason he is the titular head of the investigation is because the Tarot card was addressed to him. He was the one on TV the previous weekend saying the schools were safe and the shooting of the schoolboy and the Tarot card were a response to him from the shooter.
They are trying to get the shooter to contact Moose.

Mooose, "YOU gave us a telephone number last night PLEASE call us at THAT number". Moose has asked the media to repeat that as often as possible.

I am beginning to go back to my original thinking that this is a psycho sniper (with a sidekick) who probably has been playing games with the cops for a while now with messages but apparently one of the messages got out to the media (the tarot card). After that he probably threatened the police not to let anything get out again - that is probably why they were so angry about the card.

Then you'd lose all of the accuracy this guy is supposed to have, and all the so called precision shooting just amounts to lucky shots.

Now a spokesman from the police are saying that the person would understand the message and that the media wouldn't. Not to worry
To: tomkat
And when the person DOES call, Moose will say (in my best Lily Tomlin voice), "Is this the party to whom I'm speaking?" :)

I have to be nicer, this guy is sissy's boss.

The shooter leaves one of those cheap cell phones somewhere, and told the cops he would call.Or a stolen cell phone.

That sounds like when a nurse once told me that my face "looked familiar to itself". LOL

Look at the facts, America did not always live in fear of arab terrorism.
We aren't living in fear of ARAB terrorism now either. It is important to realize that this is NOT an arab issue, and to suggest otherwise is racism (not to mention being factually incorrect, a far worse sin). We are facing ISLAMIC terrorism, not arab terrorism, and the distinction is important. If we do not correctly identify the enemy, then we commit two grave errors. First, we may alienate valuable allies (such as Arab American Christians, nearly all of who are fiercely loyal to the United States). Second (and more dangerously) we may allow the enemies among us (white, black, and other muslim terrorists) to go unnoticed.
It is a recent development
This isn't completely true either. One of the very first problems faced by the United States and her citizens was Islamic pirates near the Barbary Coast in the Mediterranean, a problem with many parallels to the current situation. Essentially, the issue seems to have almost nothing to do with US foreign policy, but instead has everything to do with capability. When the Islamists had the ability to capture our shipping and kill or kidnap our people, they did so, even though the young United States had done absolutely nothing to harm them or their people. The "relative calm" the United States experienced since that time had more to do with a lack of ability on their part than it did a lack of desire to attack us.
someone on the other thread just said the PIO didn't alter moose's message ...
* retract moose fusillade

I was wondering if this is some kind of code or something. Maybe it is.
To: AUsome Joy
Well, gee aren't they bright. Now we all know that the message was for the police to go to a phone and announce that they are ready for the call when they are at the phone. Like nobody could figure that out. Why not just go on the air and say "To the person who left us a message: we are ready." Now that would confuse the media.

LE were supposed to be at the pay phone at a designated time last night, but found the message too late. They're trying for a second chance. My thoughts.

I have problems believing this is one person, but who knows? I have got to get a TV cable in my computer room!
