Ay-oh. Ay-ay-ay-ay-oh.
Go Mr. Powell, sir!

He was pretty funny. He even joked about all the rumors about him quitting. But when he spoke about Iraq, he was especially eloquent.

Great speech! ...... appropriately light and humorous at times, touching in his remarks about Al Smith, and laying it on the line about Iraq!

This is a magnificent man, my friends...
I am bursting with pride over his speech and how it reflects on him as a solid, on-board leader of our Nation's interests in the international arena.
Many of us have criticized him in the past, but it's time to be as honest about this as about past observations of GEN Powell's performance.
In summary, we should be as proud of Colin Powell as we are of our President! Thank you, General Powell!!

Considering Powell's background (Military), and W's performance so far, I think, by definition, to be part of the Bush Cabinet, one has to be a team-player. To paraphrase Hugh, these people (Executive Branch) are serious players. None of this surprises me.

I did not see this speech, but when I have seen Powell speak, I have thought him to be one of the smoothest, most effective public speakers ever. He's loaded with confidence and charm.
To: MeeknMing
He was fantastic!!!
Wonder if Harry Belafonte was watching... Day-o!

I have never been one to criticize Powell. I would not want to see him as a candidate for president or VP because he is pro-abort. But as Secretary of State he has always been a team player. When he seemed to get out further than Bush on the peace effort in Israel, I think he was only doing his job. Bush needed to pursue the peace line to give Arafat every chance to show people exactly what he was. Powell has never been one to undermine his boss, the way Tenet has repeatedly done.

Colin to spew liberal tripe, after all Colin is
an affirmitive black right ? Ole squat expects Colin
to give Bush the biznezz simply cause he is black.
One of these day's I'll have MY fifteen minutes
and ole squat will interview me and BOOOM
right to the chops...lights out theatre !!!!!
Man,I despise ole squat and lie Matthews

I would vote for Powell even though ihe is Pro-Choice. I am not a one-issue voter, and really there is very little the President can do WRT abortion.

Wonder if Harry Belafonte was watching... Day-o!I was wondering the same thing myself.
Did Colin get permission from "Massir Bush" to speak tonight, so he don't git thown back in the fields as a working hand?
Harry must be chewing tums like a mad man.

I've seen Powell horribly criticized here on FR. I've been mostly a bystander soaking in the info. Tonight, he shined. Quite brightly, imho. Thanks for your information and input!

I liked his "moderate" jokes. He said the New York Times wants him to resign, and the Washington Times wants the President to fire him. And then he said the President said "That's just where I want you to be." Funny comment, and it reflects well on the President.
