I love balloon fiesta time, and I thought I'd post some pics for those of you unfamiliar, some from this year, some from years previous years, of what makes Albuquerque 'famous'.

Does it take place the same week every year?

Sure does!

I used to live in Albuquerque. This time of year I really miss it. I loved the chilly mornings, the smell of chilli roasting on the street corners, buying firewood from the guys up on Tramway. Fall is nice in Albuquerque.

I'd hoped the Flag Balloon could be here. We could have had an all FReeper chase crew!

Ugh, I grew up near Albuquerque and I can't stand the Balloon Fiasco.
The traffic coming and going to work on I-25 becomes a deathtrap with all the idiots looking at balloons. I got to work an hour late because some little car got rear-ended by a gravel truck this morning. And my favoite bars are filled with loudmouthed balloonists.

Those are beautiful pics. I met my husband for the first time in ABQ and have good memories of it. We'll definitely take our family there for this balloon fiesta in another year or two.

Looks like a DNC convention - all that hot air...

Here is a link to a live web cam of the event, and a lot of other good information on it...I am looking forward to moving back to Albuquerque within the next few months...I think it's a great place to live.

Nice pics! I was there Saturday on the roof of my brother's house across from the balloonport. Wonderful sight as those balloons drifted over!

I saw this, many years ago. It's truly a surreal sight :)

I'm going to be there Saturday, going for a ride.
We're making a vacation of it, traveling from Kansas.
Any FReepers make sure to give the secret hand sign!
uh... what's the secret hand sign again?

I grew up in Bernalillo, during football practice my senior year a balloon landed on the baseball field. We diddn't have to run sprints that day because of the chase vehicles and people who needed to get to it
