TV Star Tossed Out of Bookstore!
Tuesday, October 1, 2002; Page C03
The Washington Post reports that George Stephanopoulos and his two dogs were thrown out of the Georgetown Barnes & Noble Sunday afternoon.
According to the story in the Post headlined, " TV Star Tossed Out of Bookstore!" Stephanopoulos took the dogs into the bookstore where Gilbert, the family Dachshund started barking and refused to stop. Stepanopoulos was then told to leave.
A Barnes & Noble patron e-mailed a Post writer ( the staff is withholding by-lines because of a labor dispute) that "he had a baby carriage, and two little yapping dogs. He was looking at the magazines, and these dogs kept yapping, really loud! I figure you have to have some kind of an ego or be a foreigner to think it is okay to bring your dogs into a store. The security guard told G.S. he had to leave. He wheeled the baby carriage towards the door with the two yapping dogs on their leash."
The bookstore is a few blocks from the townhouse where the new host of ABC News's "This Week" lives with wife Alexandra Wentworth and their newborn daughter, Elliott Anastasia.
Stephanopoulos later told the Post: "They're great dogs -- a dachshund, Gilbert, and a Lakeland terrier named Charlie. But let's be fair to Charlie. He wasn't the one who was barking. That was Gilbert. And neither of them was 'yapping.' " Tongue in cheek, Stephanopoulos continued: "I was in the periodical section reading Lewis Lapham in Harper's, and Gilbert wanted to go over to check out the bestsellers. It was all over in a minute and a half. I was asked to leave and I left."
Barnes & Noble did not return phone calls made by the Post writer.

I repeat, George Stephanopoulos is a creep. He should soon be given the heave-ho from the ABC TV show nobody watches.

The Clinton cronies resort to "Attack Dogs" to keep people from buying books written by conservatives?? I wonder if that is a possibility here.
OK - back to the Torch stuff.

Listen, if ABC gives Boy George the boot, he would be a natural in Joisey politics.

I have two Springer Spaniels that love people and food.
I've always wished I had the nerve to open the door at
Burger King and let them go in.

A) Stephie's not exactly normal, is he? B)Considering the money B&N's CEO has shelled out to the Dems, Stephie probably thought the store's mgmt. would kiss his derriere.

Whenever I hear the words Books and Dogs in the same sentence, images of a certain 1930's European country come to mind.
New Jersey can have him. Keep Boy George out of Texas.

What no gerbil?
George's high chair at the Sunday morning round table is but one of his aids as ABC's propaganda hour has become another Face the Nation.

WHAT normal person takes their dogS into a Barnes and Noble anyway? I am no fan of the guy - but he took it all in stride and apparently doesn't care whether the average person thinks he's arrogant or not. It looks to me like he was out strolling the baby AND walking the dogs and decided to look at a book. Efficient use of time in my opinion. ;-)

The dogs are the only 'normal people' in this story.

You sound like a really nice, tolerant person. I wish I could be more like that. But, that doesn't change things, George is still a creep.
To: Temple Owl
George is still a creep. I would go so far as to say his social, political, and moral values... oh shuck it all - he's a creep! ;-)

I didn't know that "Stefanie" Step-on-all-of-us had a baby! I wonder who the father is?
