The Paris based Al-Muharrir news weekly said in its recent issue that Iraqi Foriegn Minister Naji Sabri informed the Secretary General of the Arab League that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein is ready to put his resignation at the disposal of an Arab summit to be held in Baghdad, being plenary or mini, but he stressed Saudi Arabia participation in the summit is necessary.
The paper quoted Sabri as saying to the Arab League Chief, Amr Moussa, that Saddam Hussein welcomes the Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz which he considers 'a friend and a dear brother.'
The magazine also said that according to well placed sources, the Iraqi President enthusiastically showed readiness to attend a mini Arab Summit if such a summit is held in Saudi Arabia.

This is total B.S. No way would he resign, go into exile, be captured, etc.

He may want to install one of his own sons. That plan was rumored early this year.

Which is just as bad, both of them are crazier than Saddam himself.

Another scheme from Saddam!

Is Saddam pulling a New Jersey Rat move here, letting his sons die for the cause while he skates to a tropical island?

Which is just as bad, both of them are crazier than Saddam himself. Try telling that to Democrats, Beltway columnists, and the UN! They think saddam is perfectly NORMAL! Imagine if he did step down...They'd certainly (claim to) see no reason for us to go to war with Iraq then...

Thank you lord, that our president isn't so stupid that he'd believe what this madman promises!
Thank you that Algore isn't our president today!

He plans to resign like he's going to allow unfettered inspections.
The prospect of him meeting with the Saudi and the prospect of the mini Arab summit are interesting, though. I wonder what he's up to?

Watch Bush finesse this latest wrinkle. It should be poetry in motion...

All the Arab leaders who are now preparing to engage or support an invasion of Iraq are to fly into Iraq, to talk Saddam into resigning. By the way, the most *powerful* of them (Saudi Arabia) needs to be present, for this to have any chance of succeeding. And nooooo, there is nothing complicated, suspicious or risky about this. No chance of becoming a hostage, or of being drugged, exposed to a bioagent or intimidated. This is just a simple, uncomplicated case of Saddam saying what he does so easily: "take my hardwon kingdom and power, please!"

I can see Saddam getting the Crown Prince Saud in Iraq and then using him as a hostage to hold off the American bombers.

Yet another lie from the lowest form of life on the planet. Why do they even bother to print this garbage.
To: BonnieJ
Sure he would, sort of...
He'd put his son in charge for public view and he would be in charge behind the scenes.

What if he resigned, essentially ceding Iraq, but went underground, maintaining control of his WMD and conducting a terrorist war? It would place us in a very difficult situation. What would we do?
