Man Suffers Severe Burns Trying To Kill Lice

Man Is In UW Burn Unit

MADISON, Wis. -- A man is listed in critical condition after trying to kill his head lice Saturday night, police said.

The 26-year-old doused a towel with rubbing alcohol, put it on his head and then lit a cigarette, police said. The towel caught fire and engulfed the man. He suffered burns on about 50 percent of his body, police said.

He was renting a room with a friend at King's Inn Motel on the West Beltline, police said.

He is in the burn unit with second- and third-degree burns.

what's HMB?

As in "Hold muh beer 'n watch this," the last words of the clueless redneck (or insert appropriate politically incorrect name here) when he dies. The words (at least when I describe them to someone) are spoken with the same raspy voice that Billy Bob Thornton uses in "Sling Blade."

A guy I dated in college decided to do a "hold muh beer" stunt with his absolutely gorgeous sister (NO, not that) when they were teens. They decided that because Lysol did such a good job getting rid of germs that they'd apply it straight from the bottle to their faces to get rid of their zits.

Needless to say, they did the equivalent of a chemical face peel, and discovered that one way to put out the fire on their faces was to bury their heads in snowbanks for a substantial period of time.

They DID get rid of their zits, though--along with a layer or two of skin.
