Your post is wrong in so many ways that one scarcely knows where to begin. First of all, what does Israel defending itself have to do with "proxy fighting?" The statement makes no logical sense. Did you even read the article? Israel's response would be to an Iraqi attack on Israel, not the U.S.

Secondly, what "world stability" are you speaking of? The Middle East is a cesspool of Arab terrorists and instability, and Israel and America are fighting the same war against similiar (and some identical) foes. Whether you like it or not, the IDF and the U.S. military are working very closely with each other, and I seriously doubt that either would be in harms way if the other decided to retaliate with major weapons (like nukes). And make no mistake about it, if Israel is attacked with WMD, and the perpetrator can be identified, that particular Arab sandpit will be incinerated in short order.

And btw, your suggestion that the U.S. would fight the IDF if Israel threatened our oil interests is laughably naive. Where'd you get that gem from, The Spotlight? ...LOL. We've recently cut major deals with Russia for their Caspian Sea oil, and we're probably going to be temporarily annexing some Iraqi fields as well in the upcoming war. We'll extract what we need to pay off some debt and secure the free flow of oil for U.S. consumers for the forseeable future.

Relax, and enjoy.

It's not wrong at all, until you realize that the entry of Israel into a fight against Iraq is totally needless. The point of the entire Hussein-Attack-Israel strategy is to specifically rally other middle eastern nations against supporting UN resolutions to handcuff Hussein's developmental programs.

I doubt that there is the level of cooperation you describe. Frankly, if that were the case, why would Jonathan Pollard be necessary? I have no objection to working with the very capable IDF. I do have huge objections when Israeli operatives begin spying on MY NATION and MY GOVERNMENT and MY MILITARY.

While WMD use is horrible, the Israeli's have little to worry about the use of the bomb. Frankly, Israel would be leveled by one device because Israel is so geographically challenged.

Regarding IDF incursions during US operations, the President needs to make damn clear to Sharon that any IDF incursion or interference during a US-led operation would not be welcome.

The United States DOES NOT FOLLOW Israel's lead.

If some people in Israel have some problem with that, they should go back to 1947 and review which nation put Israel on the map!
