Germany Drops Extradition Request of Terrorist

Germany has dropped its extradition request of Ramzi Binalshibh on Sunday, clearing the way for the United States to deal with the suspected terrorist. Pakistani Interior Minister Moinuddun Haider told the Associated Press that Binalshibh and others "had done nothing wrong on our soil" and that if another country wanted them they would be sent there.

Germany's Interior Minister Otto Schily said Saturday that he would seek Binalshibh's extradition to Germany on grounds that he was a member of an al-Qaida cell in Hamburg, and had been helped plan and carry out the September 11th attacks.

However, on Sunday, Schily said since the attacks occurred on US soil, "it goes without saying that Americans have priority for his extradition."

Did someone just brief the German, Schily, between his Saturday statement and his Sunday statement? What a bunch of putz those Germans are.

I hope they don't take him to Gitmo too soon. I want the Pakistanis to have enough time to "persuade" him to talk.
