I think Americans should adopt a new hand signal for 911. Index and middle finger straight up together signifying the WTC and then spread the fingers to the victory "V" showing that we remember 911, but victory is ours!I like it, alot!

Janet Reno has announced that she would like a recount on the number of suspects being detained on Alligator Alley.

Is anyone here wondering if the talk about not having "enough to bring it down" could have been something totally unrelated to terrorism? I think that we should be doing all that we are in terms of investigating, but after listening to this woman, the thought occurred to me that perhaps their words meant something totally different.

Remember that poor foreign exchange university student (from Africa I believe) in San Diego CA last year, that overheard several Arab students laughing and celebrating the 9-11 attacks? He did the RIGHT THING, and he IMMEDIATELY reported it to campus authorities, and then THEY had the nerve to reprimand him and tell him he was discriminatory and 'profiling'. Damned liberals. I felt sorry for that guy, I remember he was truly in love with America and was personally offended by those suspicious students. He overheard their conversation in Arabic which he was fluent in. I never have understood why people on college campuses think that criminal activity needs to be reported to the college administration instead of to the police. If your car is stolen in a store parking lot, do you report it to the store manager, or do you call 911? If a pickpocket swipes your wallet in a shopping mall, do you report it to the mall office, or do you call 911?
College administrations are not law enforcement agencies, and from my own personal experience, do not usually handle criminal investigations very well.

Consider too that there are many actions taken that are not revealed to the public. We cannot assume that because it isn't broadcast on cable that it isn't happening.
We learned last week that New York had been on HIGH alert, orange, for weeks. This had not been made public.

What do you expect a foreign student to do, then? Look at it from his point, will you?

I'm not sure where Calhoun is, but we're about seven hours from the Georgia border.Calhoun is an hour north of Atlanta and about 50 minutes south of Chattanooga, TN. I know this restaurant very well: it's about 3 minutes from where my wife's family lives. I've eaten there a lot whenever I've visited them. And fellow Freeper lowbridge probably knows the place too since he came to our wedding a few weeks ago.
Calhoun is a really nice town. Small, but not unsophisticated. The people there are very close-knit. It's a very devoutly religious community. Their newspaper, the Calhoun Times, is the furthest thing from the liberal press you can find.
I'm still shaking my head at the stupidity of these guys for blabbing in a town like Calhoun.

Either these people are really, really stupid or this is a diversion. Blabbing at a restaurant, blow through a tollbooth... They were trying to get "caught".
I've heard this theory a number of times now, but I don't think it makes any sense. It's not like their capture is going to lighten security or make us any less alert. I don't see how their capture makes it any easier for another attack.
Thank God for their stupidity, but that doesn't mean another attack isn't on the way.

I never have understood why people on college campuses think that criminal activity needs to be reported to the college administration instead of to the police. Because college adminstrations would prefer to sweep things under the rug and not generate a Uniform Crime Report that gets into the DOJ database, making the college zip code look bad.
To: DB
Trying to get caught, most definitely.
But I would suggest that the strategy may be something more subtle than a diversion.
Perhaps the intent is to incite distrust in such vigilance and swift action, to create bad press for those mean, race-profiling Americans.
If a several such incidents result in looser security at all, that strenghtens the terrorists hand immensely.

Way to Roll Family Citizens! She had a level head on.
What is the (thread) update on these Medical student clowns?
