CROATIA-GOSPIC-TRIAL Oreskovic, Norac plotted to assassinate Tudjman 12:20 ZAGREB , Aug 28 (Tanjug) - Croatian war veterans Tihomir Oreskovic and Mirko Norac, on trial at the Rijeka County Court for the liquidation of Serbs in Gospic in the autumn of 1991, plotted to assassinate then Croatian president Franjo Tudjman during a visit to Gospic, the Zagreb weekly Globus said on Wednesday. The report entitled "Witness to the Hell of Gospic" was written by Zdenko Ropac, a possible witness at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) based in The Hague, currently residing at a secret address in Germany.
Ropac gave evidence to the ICTY investigators already in 1997, describing the crimes in Gospic of which he is accusing the very state leadership of the times, and not only Oreskovic and Norac as the executors. (end)
