Fishing Buddy is Charged in Highwood Man's Drowning

A Highwood man was ordered held on $2 million bail Monday after prosecutors said he drowned a man during a quarrel over when they should return home from fishing at a Highland Park pond.

Lorenzo Barrios, 37, of the 500 block of Sheridan Road is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Odon Perez Sanchez, 40, also of Highwood, whose body was found floating in the pond Sunday afternoon, police said.

The two friends went fishing Saturday morning in Cunniff Park, Highland Park Police Sgt. Michael Olshefke said.
