Republicans stand to boost their share of the vote among Hispanics in the fall elections and beyond, but only if they mount a major registration drive, a poll scheduled for release today suggests.
The survey of 1,000 Hispanic adults indicates those who most strongly support Republicans are newcomers to the United States who are not yet registered to vote.

Oh, this is REALLY gonna piss-off the Bush Haters, Racists and Buchanan Brigaders on this site!
We can't have those Darkys living the American Dream now can we???
So, the GOP commissions a poll to justify the INVASION.
"The president and the congressional Republicans are scoring the highest with the newest arrivals to America Latinos who do not speak English and also among Latinos who are not registered to vote," Mr. de Posada said. "It's the newcomers, the non-English speakers, that the Republicans should be going after before the Democrats get them."
"Newcomers" --
the latest euphemism for illegal aliens. Watch for more of this spin.

Thanks for getting the ugliness of your bile right out there in front. You really think you do President Bush and the GOP favors by this tangible hatred of yours?
I agree in principle (so long as these are legal immigrants), but much depends on just what enticements the GOP uses to attract the newcomers. As long as our principles, culture, and language are not compromised, I am in favor of such outreach.
It was race-bating troll humor.
There's a coterie of so-called Bush supporters who play these cards from the Democrats' deck.
Sigh.
Baloney. Shear is a troll in every sense of the word.

Sigh.
A for effort, but there's no way to explain humor to the humorless or explain anything to a know-it-all.
Amazing how bigots get so predictably defensive and sanctimonious when someone pokes fun of their prejudices.
As should be clear from my "sigh" reply to Sabertooth's heads-up to me, I can accept that Shear was trolling, although I'll now be on the lookout for other posts by Shear and will make up my own mind.
If you have seen any of my posts, particularly recent ones on threads about the Bill Simon campaign, you will see that I have been practically pleading with Conservatives to learn the importance of building winning coalitions. Here in California, since minorities taken together now outnumber Caucasians, it is particularly vital for Republicans and Conservatives to build bridges (not walls) to minority communities of all ethnicities.
So please don't be so quick to jump to inaccurate assumptions as that implied by your "baloney" characterization.
Nothing inaccurate about it. You said it yourself - you've never seen one of Shear's posts. Well, I have, and he's most definitely a troll, not a purveyor or sardonic humor.
Hence, your comment was baloney.
Amazing how bigots get so predictably defensive and sanctimonious when someone pokes fun of their prejudices.
Which is it - was Shear's post meant to humor, or to "poke fun" at?
Why are you "amazed" at a "predictable" responses?
And why is it OK for you to be sanctimonious, but not someone else?
Sabertooth can defend himself, but I couldn't help asking.
I'm crushed:)
