As senators reviewing ethics questions involving Sen. Robert Torricelli near a crucial decision, a lawyer for his imprisoned accuser says the New Jersey Democrat never reimbursed the convicted businessman for gifts.

"Never happened. It's fanciful thinking on [Torricelli's] part," Bradley Simon, the lawyer for David Chang, said Monday.

"Maybe a bonus with this inquiry will be asking for the "proof" that the Clintons and Rodhams have returned all that cash they "claimed" to have returned"

Let's not hold our breath on that.

The socialist "New Democrats" are held to the "no controlling legal authority" standard of "justice", as has been demonstrated many times over the past nine and a half years.

such skills do not extend to Republicans in the United States Senate who seem to enjoy being punching bags for their Democrat colleagues.

Who was the Republican senator on O'Reily last night talking about not getting on the wrong side of "my charimain"? He was talking about Fritz Hollings, Dem from SC. He sounded so lilly-livered, I was waiting for him to switch parties on the spot.

I saw that....it was Conrad Burns of Montana. He was embarrassingly weak.
My hubby had to keep me from throwing things at the television.

I saw that too. MamaLucci helped us both remember in post #28. That "wrong side of my chairman" thing said a lot about what is wrong in the Senate: too much back scratching and too few spines.

Part of the problem is when they do try to play hardball, like was mentioned earlier with Tom Delay, the liberal media then jumps on them as being "mean spirited" and not acting in a bipartisan manner. Who cares what the media thinks? Torricelli is a crook, Trent Lott and co. should be telling it like it is. That is unless they're afraid of repercussions??

I've been asking that question myself and no one seems to have the answer. Quite peculiar isn't it, that the giver is guilty but the reciever is not.

Would not surprise me a bit for Lott to have some closet skeletons in need of protection.

"Nothing to see, move along..."

Does anyone think that, at some point, a critical mass must be reached when the American people say ENOUGH?

Exactly when did the "rule of politics" trump the "rule of law?" (A: Nov, 1992)

Spell this word very carefully, C-O-V-E-R-U-P. The socialist will do everything in their power to cover this up and keep him in the Senate. He leaves, they no longer hold the Senate. 49-49-1 again. Until the governor of NJ appoints someone to hold the office until an election can be held. They will do what they have to do and get away with it because the republicans are too weak kneed and weak spined to fight. Wimps all.

I think that would require some sort of spine or goal for Lott to do that, and we all know Lott is just some meandering boob that never has had a conviction (heh) in his political life.
He's not aware of the details? Well, senator, how about making yourself aware of them?

At least it would explain, to my utter satisfaction, exactly where his spine went.

Toricelli should be in jail next to Bill and Hillary. N.J. needs to vote him out.
