Watch and pray. The rescuers are optimistic that they will reach the cavity where the miners are located by midnight, perhaps as soon as 10pm et.

They just reported that several PA miners were caught in a similar situation thirty years ago AND WERE RESCUED ALIVE AFTER A WEEK IN THE HOLE.

God loves us all, but in my limited human understanding of His dimension, my prayer has been for God to stop loving me for a few hours and focus all that on those nine men.

Thanks, I'll check it out. My Father was given a Presidential Citation by Truman for saving other miner lives. My heart goes out to these families. I still remember my mother rocking me while we waiting for news,when my Dad was trapped several miles down. He worked in iron mines. One of my Uncles was trapped once for several days. Dad hadn't worked in mining for 25 years when he died, but many men that had worked for him came to his funeral. They all made a point of telling me how much they respected him. I guess the bravery they showed each other established a special bond.

The most amazing, almost tear-jerking notion of all this are the wing, the fleet of helicopters waiting to whisk each man to the best of at least three readied hospitals. That is wildly amazing to me, and like Schweiker said, God Bless America, that we live in a country where all of this can be put together in a total of 73 hours. Un-friggin-fathomable.

And all the greenies who have made strip mine (surface mining) permits almost impossible to obtain with the enviromental controls. So in 2002 we still have crews working beneath the earth because it is easier to risk lives than the landscape.

Dittos to that! And a about to break through BUMP as the Gov is talking. He's implying breakthough is imminent. Then it's and hour to remove the bit and casing, another hour or two to send the capsule down and get information about the conditions in the mine. Looks like after midnight rescue.

Thank you Lord for being with these men, their famiies and frieds and please bring them to the surface safe and sound.
