Bush's Impeachment Sought by Clinton-Connected Group

A group of Democrats with close ties to the Clinton White House and the Democratic National Committee is working to elect a Democratic majority in both Houses of Congress this fall with the express goal of impeaching President Bush.

The Web site Democrats.com introduces a new feature this week that it calls "'Bushgate' - Which Scandal Will Bring About Bush's Impeachment?"

"Bush has run the most scandal-ridden administration since Richard Nixon produced Watergate," the Web site's authors contend.

"'Bushgate' [will] track the progress of ALL of Bush's scandals," the Web site says, "as they make their way from Internet exposes ... to columns, books and films ... to mainstream news stories ... to Congressional investigations ... and finally, to IMPEACHMENT."

Democrats.com even goes so far as to outline a two-step plan to make Bush the second elected president in U.S. history to be impeached. (Clinton was the first.)

"Here is our plan," the group says:

"Step 1: We, the People, will draft the Articles of Impeachment.

"Step 2: We, the People, will elect a Democratic Congress in November 2002 with instructions to impeach the President, Vice President, and Supreme Court Justices."

Possible scandals that could lead to Bush's impeachment include, according to Democrats.com, "Enron, Funeralgate, Halliburton, Harken (Energy), (Bush's) Secret Government, the Stolen Election" and something they dub Bush's "Nazi Inheritance."

The Web site has started a voter registration drive with an eye toward building an electoral majority that will make impeachment possible.

"We can use our voting power to win the next election in a landslide and defeat all Republicans," the Web site promises. "To succeed, we must use the Internet to mobilize a get-out-the-vote effort on a scale never seen before."

Democrats.com then asks new voters to sign the following "Voter Pledge":

"I will elect a Democratic Congress in November to impeach George Bush, Dick Cheney, and the Supreme Court 5."

Far from being a group of disgruntled political activists disconnected from the Democratic Party's mainstream, Democrats.com boasts some very impressive connections to the Clinton administration and the DNC.

The Web site's co-founder David Lytel was President Clinton's personal webmaster, helping to develop and edit the award-winning White House Web site.

Former Clinton pollster Stanley Greenberg sits on Democrats.com's advisory board, along with Dick Bell, formerly the head of the Interactive Media Department at the Democratic National Committee.

Jock Gill, another advisory board member, was Director of Special Projects in the Office of Media Affairs in the Clinton White House. He also helped develop the White House's Web site.

Democrats.com advisory board member Greg Simon was the chief domestic policy adviser to Vice President Al Gore.

Last week it was revealed that another group of former White House figures calling itself American Family Voices had launched an ad campaign claiming that Bush's 1990 sale of Harken Energy stock was corrupt and helped set the stage for the wave of business scandals currently rocking Wall Street.

The AFV's most prominent member is Clinton attack dog James Carville.

Despite Democrats.com's close ties to their administration, Bill and Hillary Clinton have never commented on the Web site's activities.

Neither of the Clintons could be reached Monday night to respond to the efforts of their former staffers to get President Bush impeached.

Impeachment.....What a great idea. There is one sure way to see Bush's approval rating skyrocket back to the upper 70's/lower 80's. Is there a place I can send money to support impeachment.

Boy, what a nice agenda.Hey,it is difficult to impeach a President as we found out with Clinton. For the Constitutional sholars out there. What charges would they need to file to get rid of those five SCOTUS judges they want to impeach? Anybody know?I mean i dont think saying"I don't like their spin on the Constitution" is a viable impeachment article?

Leave it to NewsMax to publish something of utterly no value but quite inflammatory. The Democratic group in question is one step above DU.

They'd be better served trying to come up with an issue. I think America is getting fed up with the Dems constant unwarranted attacks on the President (just like they did with the Republican warranted attacks on Bill Clinton).

LOL, these democrats finally went over the edge, methinks.

"We can use our voting power to win the next election in a landslide and defeat all Republicans," the Web site promises. "To succeed, we must use the Internet to mobilize a get-out-the-vote effort (READ: manufacture votes) on a scale never seen before."

I can't believe they think they can impeach anyone they don't agree with. Nevermind giving people reasons to vote for Democrats.

And furthermore, NewsMax is just about 2 steps above Judicial Watch in the "news" it publishes. OK-- now I've said everything I have to say on this thread and about NewsMax.

Newsmax

Are you criticizing Newsmax for paying attention to what you regard as a bunch of idiots with no chance of achieving their objectives? Ok, but remember how the mainstream media played up the "RATS" story during the 2000 election, claiming that a 1/32nd second truncated word (democRATS) in a Republican ad was a sinister plot to use subliminal messages? This lack of perspective is hardly limited to Newsmax.

This feeble little plot ("impeach Bush") by a bunch of gutless, pencil-neck, mama's boys over at DU has no chance of success, but here's my guess at the event which might become "Fort Sumter 2": the day that Hitlery vote-frauds her way into the Presidency is the day America ends. I doubt she really can get elected, massive vote fraud or not, but if it ever happens then William Henry Harrison's record (he only served 30 days) will be broken.

Brilliant idea to impeach a President during WWIII. And put a democrat - such as "give me all your interns" Clinton - to discuss the stopage of terrorism.

I can see it now: Clinton stops world violence and terrorism by sharing the values of FREE LOVE.

The problem is that the Dems could count on Trent Lott and the Senate Republicans taking a dive on their constitutional duty to look at the evidence and give an honest verdict. I don't think that we can count on the Democrats doing the same.

I wouldn't even be suprised to hear Lott say "It is with much regret that I must obey Majority Leader Daschle and vote to convict the president."
