The U.S. Forest Service told one of its tenants that his 20-foot flagpole is unauthorized and has to go.

David Knickerbocker has flown the American flag on the pole next to his summer cabin in the El Dorado National Forest for nearly two decades. He leases a quarter-acre lot.

I might just paint the cabin to match the door since matching is the criteria.

Or better yet, paint the cabin to look like an american flag.

Where do we get these "high priced" idiots from??

The Forest Service is a prestigious arm of our central government.

It's true that the "Service" has burned a lot of Los Alamos and Colorado and should be abolished and all "Service" employees, along with the miscreants, should shoved out the various doors onto the streets in order to seek gainful employment.

As a matter of fact, about 70 % of all government workers, central and state, should be fired!

But then what would happen to the stock market?

Someone just reported groundhogs hiring beavers to cut down trees so the groundhogs could build above ground instead of burrowing around and over and under any existing burial grounds like they always do.

They're running scared!!

The permit administrators are just public servants trying to do their job. It is unfortunate that Mr. Knickerbocker decided to make a public issue of this matter

I think these words are telling. My Knickerbocker is afraid now that it has become an issue.

I found Debbie Gaynor's email address and phone number at:

dgaynor@fs.fed.us -- phone (530) 647-5318

I sent her an email; why don't we all do the same???

If Mr. Knickerbocker includes a flagpole in such a request, the Forest has informed us that they will amend his recreation residence special use permit and formally authorize a flagpole.

He had better do so!

Ooops, I mistakenly mixed up the names. I meant to say that Mr Craven is wary now.

While this pervert playing forest ranger is worried about the symbolism of a flag pole with an American Flag, over 200,000 acres in Oregon have burnt up. We have about 6 new fires in California.

Send her to San Francisco to protest flag poles, just get rid of her.

Right-on Dave !!

This is the letter I wrote to the first civil servant:

"There are many citizens fed up with bureaucrats who think public land is their land.
When Debbi Gaynor lied about flag poles, it started this conversation. It's in the national press now:

Thanks for answering.

The flag must come down! What if an endangered Odorifous Stinkwort gets entangled in it? The risk to this precious
species is just too great.

Looks like they skirted the issue...

We're talking about The American Flag here", not a sauna, not a deck, not anything comparable.

The designation of an improvement to a property is normally something that changes its' value.

He's been flying his flag for 23 years with no objections.

So this year it becomes an issue???

Something is very wrong with this picture.

I'd like very much to know more about Ms Gaynor, her age, groups she belongs to, etc..

It's interesting to look at profiles of these folks to see if they're acting in good faith, making a power play or simply ignorant.

Do you really think Gore gave up his futile effort to win his election by fraud because of lawyers..."?

Uh, yes. Hint:The Supreme Court consists of lawyers.

The Supreme Court does not necessarily have to be composed of lawyers, but I will conceed to your point. However, there was much fightin' and rowdiness by the Republican party in Florida, else Gore would now be President.

I thought the exact same thing. Seems what the Park Service wants us to believe is that a flag that has been flying for 20+ years was just noticed, or just now failed to ask for a permit. I mean come on, I know the government works slow but really!!!!
