These are local crimes, typically involving one deranged perp. We'll remember that when it's YOUR child or loved one involved.

This cretin will do this again until he is captured. The entire area over their needs to be on high alert. Agreed.
In addition he could be traveling to a town near you as we speak.
Possible. But there are plenty of pedophiles and murderers, and probably a handful of Bin Laden associates the incompetent police have failed to arrest in my area, so why should I express any undue concern about an unsolved tragic crime three thousand miles away?

You are an insensitive jerk. Hope you don't have kids....God forbid it was your kid...you'd probably say the same thing about it you just said if it happened to you.

I think it's fine to let these horrible crimes be common knowledge. When crime becomes some abstract, then you get people who are soft on crime.
There are lots of people against the death penalty today. Let them remember what it's for.
Maybye if we could focus on never giving violent people a second chance instead of mandatory minimums on consensual "crimes" we'd be in much better situation. But that's another thread...

Isn't odd that Andy Card would make this statement? I mean there are actually 2 Andy Card's out there that I want out of the conservative ring.
Sorry...not too big of a Card fan or Rove.

The "celebrity" of this crime is the anonimity of it. This was a stranger abduction, relatively rare as these cases go, and could have happened to any parent. That brings it close to all parents.
About a year ago my kids were playing in the front yard. (Neither are allowed out of the house alone) I was in the front of the house and the door was open. A car stopped in the road and a woman asked my 6 yo daughter if the wagon at the end of the driveway was hers. My daughter made no answer, but the woman suggested that my daughter come move her wagon. As my daughter started toward the wagon (and the car that the woman had stopped, her 9 yo brother shouted "What are you doing?" which not only summoned me from the house, but caused the woman to get into her car and leave the scene. My daughter was crying out of fear and when I calmed her down and got the story straight, I called the police. The person was never found.
Thank God for my son's action. The kids no longer play in the front yard.

She was sexually assaulted...lot's of forensic evidence. We pretty much knew this the minute we heard about the kidnapping.

Look and # 5 and keep saying it's about the constitution. Hiding kiddie porn behind the constitution is more disgusting than playing the race card in the middle of a crack bust. You seem to know an awful lot about this case that isn't public knowledge. How do you know that the perpetrator had a stash of virtual child pornography? Can you account for your whereabouts these last few days?

I think its obscene that the networks would exploit the suffering of one family in order to compensate for a paucity of Nielsen-generating terrorist attacks.I sent you a freepmail telling you to leave the forum because I didnt think my admonishment of you should be public. Reading your other posts, I will now say publicly that you need to leave.

The random kidnapping and murdering of a child by a stranger is an extremely rare crime, and it's one of the worst crimes imaginable. It's appropriate for it to send our societal immune system into overdrive. Anyone contemplating such an act needs to be aware that the irrational fury of a great nation will be directed towards him personally.Well said.

FBI Talking...extreme sexual assault. The way the body was found was not hidden...almost like a challenge and calling card. This is why they think within 24 hrs again.

But I think its odd for the entire nation to shut down to focus on one local crime.Nothing has "shut down" to focus on this crime. I am sickened, shocked and horrified by this crime and what that little child had to endure. We have an outlet here to share our outrage.

We'll remember that when it's YOUR child or loved one involved. Please do, should such tragedy ever befall my family. I wouldn't want the national news media on my front lawn exploiting my suffering for the voyeuristic distraction of a bored nation.
To: andy_card
Well, one thing's for sure, we wouldn't be overreacting by calling you an idiot. IDIOT.

I see andy
"@ssh*le" card got bored over at DU and msmagzine.com, and has chosen to make a bigger @ss out of himself over here.

By the sounds of it..she did. From the second she was taken to the moment she was killed. How chilling and horrible.

You are a blithering idiot by making such a post....... do you read what you write ???
When an animal POS that steals your children has the ability to cross three or four states in a day no amount of "national exposure" is too little or too late.
Stay Safe .....
