DOCUMENTS FOUND IN AFGHANISTAN INDICATE AL-QAEDA TERRORISTS HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATING WAYS TO DISRUPT U.S. WATER SUPPLY Sun Jul 14 2002 11:18:44 ET
New York -- The nation's water utilities are preparing to defend themselves against possible terrorist attacks on pumping stations and pipes that serve its cities and suburbs. The effort comes after the discovery of documents in Afghanistan that indicate al-Qaeda terrorists have been investigating ways to disrupt the U.S. water supply on a massive scale, water officials tell TIME. The FBI's warning was confirmed last week by Tom Curtis, an executive of the American Water Works Association, whose member utilities supply water to 80% of the U.S. population.

bin Laden was quoted as saying that "with Allah's help, we can stop rain from falling and dry up the reservoirs of the evil Americans".

Just further proof...how many dozens of times now have we read here about 'arab-looking' people taking pictures of these facilities?

I didn't know that Andrew Kerr and the Oregon Natural Resources Council was a subsidiary of al-Qaeda... Maybe the Klamath farmers should call John Ashcroft and tip him off

bin Laden was quoted as saying that "with Allah's help, we can stop rain from falling and dry up the reservoirs of the evil Americans". 'Ol Allah screwed the pooch yesterday...I wanted to pick blueberries in western North Carolina, and it rained like h*ll. Some help Allah is...

"Developing..."With the sorry state of US security and lack of any border enforcement that's exactly what we should be afraid of.

Not exactly earth-shattering news. We have expected them to try this since 9-11. However, "massive scale" does raise some scary thoughts.
One thing the terrorists (probably) don't know is that just a little west of here about 10 miles is an opening to a massive natural gas cavern or something (I cna't remember how it was described exactly). Get that thing to explode and half of Kansas will be a giant crater. How many dead?....it would make the WTC look like the shooting out in the EL Al ticket counter at LAX.

I thought this was reported last December.
Anyway, this won't scare Americans. If they want to strike terror, they should threaten America's beer supply.

You know, if I were Al Qaeda I'd be generating lots of paperwork full of false leads and leaving it all over Afghanistan... I mean, talk about bang for your buck!
