I have a particular talent for figuring out the least-effort-required solution to mitigate the worst aspect of an issue. That comes from my experience doing the work of two people in my IT job. I have to do triage when there are a lot of production problems, but I don't want to put in a patch that causes further problems, nor do I want to spend a lot of time on a solution whose benefits are not worth the effort expended.

Nope Eggs it bugs me too, I've asked to be removed from 2 lists that I never asked to be on just today.

Thanks for the heads up to this thread. I read all the posts and all the ones who don't want on ping lists - WHEW! I only had one of those names on mine. Will remove it, and make a note of those who prefer not to be pinged.

You're right, because my philosophy makes sense! If only airport screeners worked that way. Instead the 'patch' they put in (searching people for no reason whatsoever other than to show that they can), may LOOK like security, but the main effect is to irritate the innocent. Likewise, federalizing airport security is a sledgehammer-pounding-a-nail solution, when arming pilots and reinforcing cockpit doors would almost completely eliminate suicide crashings. It's all about access to the cockpit!

But that's just a tangential rant superimposed on a half-assed attempt to come up with an example of my work philosophy in action.
