Volume II of the Dragon's Fury Series, "Trodden Under", which is about how current events lead to World War III, had been released to distributors and to press.

The book, which is the breathtaking sequel to Volume I of the series, "Breath of Fire", picks up the action immediately after the horrific events of March 15-16, 2006 when the U.S. 7th Fleet and the U.S. homeland are savaged by a massive and surprize conventional attack by the PRC.

It then follows the progress of the war through 2006 and into 2007 as it ragies in Asia and the Middle East and as it spreads to Central and South America and into the Pacific. All the while, extensive terror and military attacks continue to occur within the continental United States (CONUS).

Like Volume I, Volume II, "Trodden Under" is a story of faith and the ultimate triumph of good over evil in the face of horrific obstacles and setbacks. From leaders in high offices of power, to soldiers and sailors from the involved nations, to housewives and their children, down to kids on the street, it is also the story of people - common and not so common - caught up in the titanic struggle.

Look for it very soon on Amazon, at PocketPCPress, at KBSBooks and other places online.

Sure, some Americans will use their American freedoms to primarily pursue non-economic interests, but the vast majority of Americans will primarily pursue economic interests. That is why people have jobs where they earn money. The importance of economic issues to Americans is paramount, and that is also why economic issues -- taxes, government spending, etc. -- are often the biggest issues in presidential campaigns. George W.'s popularity is even starting to sink now because of the poor performance of the stock market.

Like I said, you misunderstand the very essence. You are "looking beyond the mark", IMHO.

Opportunity beckons in America because of the intrinsic values associated with her freedoms, not because people are simply free to make the pursuit.

There are many opportunities that one can seek after to improve ones self, education (which costs money), spirituality (which takes time ... and time is money), etc. These then open the door to opportunity ... an opportunity that is then correctly and virtuosly pursued.

We can go round and round about this all night ... but by making the end game the economic pursuit and achievement ... you have missed the point IMHO about why the nation was formed, why the people came here, and why we are great and have remained so for so lonmg. By so doing, you also underestimate our resolve and to what lengths we will go to maintain it once aroused.

As a visitor to our shores once said,

"America is great because America is good. If America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great"

NOTE: He did not say we were great because we were rich, comfortable, had the best standard of living, drove nice cars, had cool SUV's, invested in the neatest 401K's ... or any other purely material or creature comfort pursuits. It is a critical observation ... and one thankfully, that many, many Americans have not forgotten ... despite what the media, Hollywood, government agencies or our foreign or domestic adversarioes want to think.

The biggest reason why the colonies declared independence from England in the first place was taxes, which is an economic issue. Do you remember the Boston Tea Party and the slogan, "No taxes without representation!" The colonists declared independence because of the economic issue of taxes!

The colonies were basically trading outposts that grew very large over time and they no longer appreciated the British king interfering with commercial activities anymore. So they declared independence. Did you know half the signers of the Declaration of Independence were engaged in the business of international trade?

So talk about principles all you want, but it was economic issues that brought about the founding of the USA.

Additionally, around that time, the French economic class, the "bourgeoisie," also no longer appreciated their king interfering in their economic affairs. So the bourgeoisie instigated and were the driving force behind the French Revolution.

So modern-day Western republics were born out of economic issues.

The colonists declared independence because they wanted freedom to pursue their economic interests without interference from any meddlesome king.

Thus, "freedom" in America has been closely associated with "economic freedom" ever since America's founding.

The desire for "economic freedom" in particular and not for "freedom" in general is what causes America to be founded.

The purpose of America's declaring independence in the first place was not to give Americans "freedom" in general but to give Americans engaged in the international trade business (who dominated America's economy at the time) "economic freedom" in particular, free from the high taxes imposed by the British King.

So today too, America's freedoms exist not just for the sake of freedom in and of itself but for the sake of giving Americans freedom to pursue economic activities and get wealthy.

Democracy was created to serve the interests of capitalism, not vice versa. If not for capitalism/taxes, America would not have been founded. Business is the reason America was founded in the first place. Business is the core essence and lifeblood of America, not representative democracy. Business gave birth to representative democracy merely as a way to prevent meddlesome kings from ever again interfering in capitalists' activities.

Your misunderstanding continues . Read the Declaration of Independence. It was a LONG train of abuses. Those abuses (and many of them did have an economic basis) struck at the heart of the very reason the people came to America ... and that was to enjoy religious freedom, freedom of speech, etc. ... the liberty that was ultimately established here.

You may continue to get the horse before the cart all you want ... and you may feel these things very strongly yourself. But the principle reasons for the founding of this nation were the underlying principles that allow for what you describe, just what I have said to you. The other prosperity issues came along as a consequence of adherance to those principles ... and it took some time for them to come along.

Keep repeating this to yourself ... America is great, because America is good

Understanding this once and for all will reveal to you how enemies of the liberty this Republic is built upon continue to attack her at that root. It is a critical root.

Do not misunderstand. The ability for the individual to own property (really OWN it) and to make something of themself and climb as high as their ingenuity and hard work will take them is fundamentally an American trait. But the capability to do that was rooted in the other fundamental, more intrinsic values that allow it to be accomplished according to the moral foundations intrinsic to the rights endowed upon those citizens by their Creator. To misunderstand this, is to miss the fundamental bedrock point about this great Republic.

If all of society misses that point ... we will cease to be what we were designed to be, and we will depart from that path that Washington was so sure we would remain upon. Thankfully, despite the sham presented by the major media, hollywood and others ... we have not.

One other point regarding Democracies and third woprld varieties. It is precisely because they lean far towards the "democratic" side of the spectrum as opposed to a Republic, and it is precisely because their system is not based on the same types of values IMHO in many cases that they fail. If they want to emulate the succes here, they will have to emulate the basis for it ... not just the shell or husk.

In addition, it is precisely because we in this nation have begun to adopt much more of a pure democracy tendency that we have some of our problems. The other reasons are equally the same ... we have been hurt morally and this has hurt us to the core. But we shall recover.

Having said all of this, I am very comfortable with the presentation of both sides of this discussion. I will leave it up to those reading to come to their own conclusion witout further adieu ... if you care to do the same.

Even though I disagree with you fundamentally, and feel that there is a great danger and threat to our society and Republic if people adopt such short sighted basis for their daily interaction (and I am mot saying that doing well economically is intrinsically wrong, just that the basis for it is the key) ... at least I can thank you for a fairly reasoned discussion.

But such an atitude as what you describe on the part of the major part of the populace would lead ... indeed is leading ... to people being much more concerned about their creature comforts than they are about the basis for their lives and their freedoms. When that happens, they are ready to surrender their freedoms to the first person or group of persons who will seemingly credably promise them the comfort and security. The foundeers warned against this very directly.

"A general dissolution of the principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy.... While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but once they lose their virtue, they will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader.... If virtue and knowledge are diffused among the people, they will never be enslaved. This will be their great security." - Samuel Adams

FYI, for those interested, here's the latest on the status of Volume I, Breath of Fire, of the series.

The Microsoft Reader Ebook version is holding at #2 of all Mystery and Thriller eBooks at Amazon. It's been there for several days. That's out of about 720 books available in that genre. Link here:

Amazon best seller Mystery and Thriller eBooks

This morning the Printed book is up to about 5,000 on the overall ratings, out of 1.4 million books. This number fluctuates pretty widely on a daily basis, but this number is about the highest it has reached and then sustained for a half day or so thus far. Link here:

Amazon Trade Paperback for Breath of Fire

Also, I got a neat review by email out of Austria today and he indicates he will post it on Amazon. Here it is:

Wow!

Yesterday I bought the Adobe Ebook Edition and finished reading it today! The story is awesome and I can't wait for the second book to come out. Your style is comparable to Larry Bond, one of my favorite authors.

Ciao from Austria

All of this is very gratifying and hopefully comes at good timing for the release of Volume II. I just hope the audience for the book series and the messages it sends continues to grow.

Fregards and thanks to SO many of you for your ncouragement to me and faith in this project.

Hah! Rich and famous is something I don't think we have to worry about.

As to the shooting ... you are welcome anytime my friend. Come on down. In fact, I'm thinking of heading out to the range this evening ... after it cools down to 100 degrees or so. We are in the midst of record heat. 108 degrees yesterday.
