NewsMax reports: "Hayadet was a radical Muslim extremist involved in terrorism, the respected Israeli intelligence Web site DEBKA.com reported today. "During his ten years in the United States, he was a secret operative of the Egyptian Jihad who maintained undercover links to the same Jihad cell in Brooklyn, New York, as the 'blind sheikh' Abdul Rahim Rahman and Ramzi Yousef. Both are doing time for perpetrating the first attack on the New York World Trade Center in 1993," DEBKA said....also believed to have abetted a previous, contrived airline disaster: On October 31, 1999, an Egyptair Boeing 767 Flight 990...copilot Gameel el-Batouty was at the controls when the plane went into its dive. His voice was recorded shouting, 'I put my faith in Allah!...Hadayat, who lived in Irvine, California, 70 km south of Los Angeles, knew Batouty well. There are also indications that, in the years 1998 and 1999, Hadayat was in touch with a group of high Egyptian air force officers and helicopter pilots posted at the time at Edwards Base north of Los Angeles. They were there to learn how to install command and control centers in Egypt's air defense systems, operate anti-air missile batteries and fly Apache gunships. Most of those officers were on the doomed Egyptian airliner after completing their courses....Clinton Again
"Two years ago, Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak exerted all his influence on President Clinton to keep the federal board's findings out of its published report and, above all, the fact that a group of Egyptian air force officers was on the plane. He warned that citing the Egyptian copilot as deliberately causing the crash would have a negative effect on Egyptian-US relations. The report therefore fell short of clear conclusions.". US maintains, ""The possibility that Hadayet was despondent, and possibly suicidal, seemed to take on increased weight Friday when Garcia confirmed that his family had left for Egypt a few days before the shootings, and that Irvine police had been to the apartment in the past on domestic disturbance calls....Judicial Watch today said that "the Bush administration is continuing a practice of providing the American public with false and misleading information concerning Islamist terror plans and attacks against the United States." It urged that Attorney General John Ashcroft and FBI Director Robert Mueller be fired." http://www.newsmax.com/showinside.shtml?a=2002/7/5/171636

Great. We have both the FBI (see no terrorists) and DEBKA (need no sources) on this case. That'll make me sleep better at night /sarcasm...

Before anyone begins disparaging remarks about DEBKA, they should remember that DEBKA identified this guy as an Egyptian first on Thursday. They were vilified on this forum for being alarmist at that time.

Correct, I alway say that DEBKA gets it wrong sometimes, but more importantly they get it right often and it is eon's before Dan Rather, who usually gets it wrong or spun. The closer to the source you get to the story, the more noise you will get, the intelligence process is to sort it out, I don't like NBC doing my sorting for me.

Judicial Watch today said that "the Bush administration is continuing a practice of providing the American public with false and misleading information concerning Islamist terror plans and attacks against the United States." It urged that Attorney General John Ashcroft and FBI Director Robert Mueller be fired. And that, coincidentally, a fellow named Larry Klayman be immediately appointed as Attorney General...

I give Debka much more respect than I give Judicial Watch or that miscreant Larry Klayman.

Yep. The same people decrying Debka as having a low signal-to-noise ratio are avid
FR participants. Ironic.
As if everything posted on FR except Debka articles needs to be taken with a grain of salt!!! LOL.

Debka and Klayman. Quite the combo.

Judicial Watch today said that "the Bush administration is continuing a practice of providing the American public with false and misleading information concerning Islamist terror plans and attacks against the United States." It urged that Attorney General John Ashcroft and FBI Director Robert Mueller be fired. My opinion is that if the best the "terrorists" can muster is a guy with a couple handguns and a knife, then Mueller and Ashcroft must be doing something right, LOL.

Yep. The same people decrying Debka as having a low signal-to-noise ratio are avid FR participants. Ironic.Several reasons why this avid freeper feels that way about Debka. First, I caught them once in a complete bald-faced lie - several, actually, within one article. And second, Debka tries to hype itself with over-the-top claims of significant intel sources, but very little of what Debka claims can ever be independently verified. And IMO when Debka is right, it is over the small stuff, not the super-duper big picture intel they claim to have...
Just because the Washington Post lies, that does not give Debka any slack for lying as well - and we get after the liberal U.S. media for their lies just as much as we get after Debka.

I don't either, but IMO Debka stories, at least the big-picture ones, are very seldom independently verified or subsequently borne out by events. But by then Debka is merrily off to the next big intel scoop...

Sorry, you can't get it wrong as often as Debka does without it being tagged as the disinformation arm of Mossad.

Strange, too, that today the U.S. warns owners of small planes to be alert for terrorists who can no longer hijack or sabatoge large planes, so are instead going after small planes.
This comes 48 hours after a crowd of picnickers are flattened in suburban L.A. by a small plane being piloted by a 13-year Army veteran who regularly flew helicopter rescue missions. His friends were quoted as saying he had previously set down copters "between houses" and could "land anything that flew."
The added coincidence of this crash occurring simultaneously with the LAX shooting is unnerving.

One more thing to tickle your antennae: There was a press report of three fatalities on the DHL plane. I did not see pictures of the wreckage so I have no independent view on how likely it is that could have been determined, but it's another odd aspect of a very odd week.
