July 2, 2002 -- WASHINGTON - Al Qaeda operatives may be keeping Osama bin Laden out of the limelight, fearing his frail condition could harm morale among his followers, according to new intelligence reports.
U.S. officials told The Post last night that the CIA and NSA intercepted communications among al Qaeda supporters following bin Laden's last public appearance on videotape in December in which there were urgent pleas to keep the elusive terror master out of the public eye.

I reckon he's dead. They just prop his body up to make it look like he is sitting, and play a tape of him talking and tug on the bit of fishing line they have hooked through his jaw to make it look like he is saying it.
HA HA AH LOL! 8vD)

I have thought he was dead. But what about that report last week or the one before that he was going to speak to America on July 4? This is all very confusing.

He's dead. If he were alive Suleiman Al Ghaith would have distributed a video by now. You think that Osama Bin Laden's groupies wouldn't be eager to reassure the faithful and demoralize the infidels by showing proof to the effect he's alive and well? I pledge on the off chance that I'm wrong, to apologize to every one on this thread if Al Qaeda should produce a recent video of Osama's resurrection as the Islamic Lazarus. But I'm confident no new video of Osama is ever gonna appear cause he's in Hell roasting on a spit accompanied by 700 demons doing the roasting.

He's not shy, it's just that Elvis and Morrison have a "thing" about cameras being brought into the club house.

He's dead. US: "You've got no arms or legs"
OBL: "It's just a flesh wound"

I saw that last video of him where he looked very gaunt and grey. He did look like he was near death. That's why I was so surprised to see on CNN that he was going to appear in a video on July 4 with a message to the American people. My thought was, there's no way he can still be alive! So, he probably will be a no show on July 4.

U.S. officials say a possible explanation is that he's still alive but may be bedridden at a hidden location.Weekend at Bernies = Weekend at Osama's?
Just prop him up by a mural of a babbling brook, again!

Bedridden my ass. More like the stiff in Weekend At Bernie's.

I am less optimistic about OBL's demise than a lot of other posters.
If he was able to orchestrate 9/11 then he is disciplined enough, smooth enough, to hide out from view for a very long time until he feels like popping up.
My guess, obviously purely a guess, is that he is alive, fairly well, and biding his time.

They are still busy training his look-alike to take his place....

Hey, no need to apologize. I agree with you. It is possible he's alive but at this point it seems very unlikely.
His ego wouldn't let him lay low this long.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if some rich Saudi sheik has offered a few hundred million for a digitally doctored video to show him alive in the present. That would take them a while to doctor one up…
