Step-Dad, Mother Accused Of Sexually Abusing 12-Year-Old Email story to a friend

An Albuquerque man is accused of making his 12-year-old step-daughter his sex partner. Police say not only did the mother know about the abuse, but she took part.
The alleged abuse happened in the family's home near Rio Grande and Candelaria in northwest Albuquerque.
Police arrested the 12-year-old’s step-dad, Robert Lowey this morning and charged him with a number of counts including criminal sexual penetration. Hours later, police arrested the girl’s mother, Karyl Lowey, who faces the same exact charges.
When police interviewed the girl she told reportedly said that her mom was very involved in the abuse.
“According to the daughter, (the mother) was well aware of what was going on and did nothing to protect her. In our eyes that is just as bad as the actual abuse.” Says Sgt. Joe Hudson Of APD’s Crimes Against Children unit. Hudson says the girl told police that most times her mom watched the abuse and sometimes rubbed the girl's feet while Robert Lowey was touching her.
Police also believe Robert photographed the girl and downloaded the pictures on the computer. Both the Loweys were also charged with sexual contact of a minor, and enticement of a child. Police say they were tipped to the abuse by an anonymous caller.
This afternoon police are conducting a search warrant on the home where they are trying to find the pictures or other evidence to support the case.
The girl is now staying with her real father, who has been granted full custody pending the outcome of this case.

Some women are so desperate to have a man in their life they'll use a daughter or son to entice a pedophile to stay. Custody laws need to change.
Well, it is a typically biased article. No mention of quotes from the stepfather, the mother, the real father, the police state the charges as if they were true but before any investigation, no mention of any lawyers, a complete lack of emphasis on the lack of real evidence, etc. Also, who's talking to the child other than the police and what physical examinations are ongoing if she's already with in her father's custody.
Interesting, oh my, how they just got into this today and custody has already been fully granted to the real father - what, was he waiting around outside the police station? It seems the anonymous tipster was probably the real father, especially if there has been an ongoing custody battle.
yeah i have to agree with that. Of corse its pretty sad that i am that daughter they are talking about and i am on here looking at what people are saying about my mom and step dad and father. my dad was not waiting at the police office i told my conseler and she told my dad and the police and then a week later we heard news that i was soppose to be stayign iwht my dad for full time and was not aloud to talk wiht my mother. isnt quite suprizing that the girls who go through this always have to suffer seeing there case going around and around places having people lookign at it and talk about it? I think its amazing that we make it through this. also when i get older i want to make the court systems go faster. I told one month befroe my 13 birthday and i am now 15 and it still hasnt gotten to the trial yet? interesting huh? the trial is set for september 7th and my best friend is going to come wiht me because i am not aloud to have my dad there or any of my family there to sopport me. the courts dont alow that..hummmm... wondering why? i agree with chance33_98 they are sick freaks. my mother karyl lowey has been sending me gifts she didnt say happy birthday for my 13 or 14th bithday but on my 15 2 months bfroe the trial my mom gives me gifts and says happy birthday. that makes me wonder. if shes jsut tryign to make me feel bad for tellign on them or is she tryign to say sorry happy birthday??? i wonder i dought she will ever say sorry to me. i have nothing mroe to say other then who ever reads this please do not think bad of me or my dad or my mother. my dad has helped me through this ever inch of the way. and my mom she made a mistack every one does.

No, step fathers are not prone to molest children. But child molesters are prone to step-parenting. There are a lot of wonderful step-parents that are out there. But this article is not about them. In fact, if you do your job as a parent, nobody will write newspaper articles about you.
The truth is, there are a lot of creepy men out there who seek out vulnerable, weak single moms so they can have their way with the kids. Sometimes it's with the mom's knowledge, sometimes without, sometimes she just pretends not to notice.
