What was in #20 that got the post deleted?

I have a sense that it is all a vain exercise anyhow. When gays get into heat, all caution goes out the window -- the watchword seems to be "the dirtier the better."

The city used $50,000 in taxpayer funds to create a "whimsical" public awareness project called "Healthy Penis 2002." (Motto: "Making every penis a healthy penis.") Dr. Jeffrey Klausner, the city's director of sexually transmitted disease control, told the San Francisco Chronicle this week that the ads were "sex positive" and "fun" because that's what "the community" wanted. "What we're hearing from community and focus groups is people felt the message would resonate better if it were presented in a lighter way," Klausner explained.

The "whimsical," "sex-positive," "fun" ways of dealing with diseases that often culminate in death from AIDS have failed miserably for nearly a quarter of a century. At the beginning of the then-called "gay cancer" epidemic, "the community" made the choice to continue making sexual intercourse in all its unnatural varieties the focus of its existence, and has been suffering the circumstances ever since. The Gay-stapo never learns.

I am currently working in a SF office building where they are "celebrating" the upcoming gay "pride" parade this Sunday by hanging sections from the AIDS Memorial Quilt in the lobby. The way that homosexuals have embraced their own epidemic as if all those dead of AIDS are martyrs instead of victims of their own foolish choices is amazing -- nearly as amazing as the way the media majority doesn't question why that is.

Anti-Syphilis Campaign Toned Down

By CHARLES ORNSTEIN
TIMES STAFF WRITER

June 26, 2002

A smiling cartoon penis will star in a syphilis awareness campaign to be unveiled this week in San Francisco to stem sharp increases in the sexually transmitted disease among gay men.

But the "Healthy Penis 2002" campaign--and its motto, "Making every penis a healthy penis"--has been rejected in Los Angeles County because health officials say it is too racy, demeaning to the gay community and potentially offensive to others.

In its place, the county and a coalition of community groups launched a less explicit anti-syphilis campaign last week, using the theme "Stop the Sores." Although the campaign doesn't feature a penis, it has its own cartoon character, a fierce-looking red sore nicknamed Phil. (Sores are one of the telltale signs of early syphilis.) The dueling approaches by the state's two largest health departments show how cultural differences between Northern and Southern California surface even in safe-sex campaigns. San Francisco often embraces the risque; Los Angeles tends to be more cautious.

"How can you have a campaign talking about syphilis and not talk about where the sores show up--on the penis?" said Steven Gibson, program manager of Castroguys, a gay men's health project in San Francisco. "Penis is not a vulgar word."

Snip... Instead, the county settled on Phil, a bumpy red creature with silver shoes and an earring. The Los Angeles County campaign includes ads in gay publications, 40,000 squeezable three-inch Phil toys and two life-size mascots of the character that will make appearances throughout Los Angeles.

CD RELEASE PARTY AT THEATER RHINOCEROS FEATURES LOCAL GAY HIP-HOP/R&B MUSICIANS
Outreach effort targets black men on the "down-low" who are at risk for HIV

SAN FRANCISCO--Our Love, the black men's program of the STOP AIDS Project, will release DL, a unique CD featuring local gay hip-hop/R&B artists, during Black Like This, its monthly urban arts symposium, on April 1 at Theater Rhinoceros, 2926 16th Street (at Valencia). Blackberri and Deep Dickollective, both featured on CD, will be on hand to perform and discuss their involvement with the unique project, designed especially for men who have sex with men on the "down-low," without their families or female partners knowing.

Photographer Duane Cramer will also showcase his work at the event and a number of the models in his pictures will be in attendance.

The DL CD, available free through a grant from the California AIDS Clearinghouse, features four songs and spoken dialogues. "Whether or not men choose to be open about their sexual practices, they owe it to themselves and their partners to be safe," said Kaya Nati, Our Love coordinator. "We created something in which these guys can see themselves being respected as thinking, capable people who can do what they wanna do and still be responsible enough to protect themselves and their partners."

The music and lyrics can also be downloaded from www.stopaids.org/dl. The website and CD booklet feature a series of six drawings that chronicle the relationship between two men--one alone, one with a girlfriend--from their first glances at a dance club to their secret rendezvous at a hotel.

"There's been an ongoing depiction of black men on the down-low as unthinking and uncaring," said Darlene Weide, STOP AIDS Executive Director. "We wanted an outreach tool that addressed their realities and concerns, and provided an opportunity for deeper discussion about sexual identity and HIV prevention."

The California AIDS Clearinghouse is a CA DHS/Office of AIDS Community Education and Prevention Statewide Technical Assistance Program at the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center. The Clearinghouse, which owns the rights to the DL CD, may make it available to AIDS service organizations statewide for use in local prevention campaigns.

The STOP AIDS Project, founded in 1984, works to prevent HIV transmission among all gay and bisexual men in San Francisco through multicultural, community-based organizing. Visit www.stopaids.org for more information.

How about they just STOP SCREWING EACH OTHER?!!!

As Father Paul Shanley, co-founder of NAMBLA wrote in 1982:

"To tell gays to not have sex is unrealistic!"

Shanley was a strong proponent of NAMBLA's philosophy

ROBERTO ORDEÑANA
Yo! Wad up?? Roberto here. Writing these things are so hard, so much to say, and so little time.

Let's see when I was 12…. Na -- I won't bore you!

I'm 23 and a native SF boy. Went to grade school, high school, and college here! Queer. Latino. Activist. Just a snippet of what I am and believe in. On a warm summer day, it's all about ice cream -- mango flavored, from Mitchell's -- THE BOMB! I am soooo obsessed -- you must have it! If you've never been, it's on the corner of 29th street and Guerrero; you'll probably find me there! Other obsessions include watching films and laughing but most of all eating. I LOVE FOOD! I don't like rainy days. I love "ER", "Sex in the City" and "Will and Grace." But my biggest obsession is to make this world a better place to live.

Through my work as the Q Action Workshops Manager, I work with volunteers on developing workshops, trainings, films and community organizing projects. We tackle issues that are dear to us, and create spaces for people to build community. I started working here three years ago in the summer of '98. Being here has taught me many things: I have learned how people can come together to create dialogue and new ideas. I have learned that sharing is important, that we all have different views, different experiences, and connecting them is so important. I have learned how to grow and ask for what I want from my friends, co-workers, dates, family and boyfriends. I have learned most importantly that there are many folks out there who do give a damn about improving our communities! I also have learned that everyday I gain some knowledge, insight and awareness and that is truly exciting!

So come to the Q Crib and say hi!

ANTONIO KRUGER
I was told to write a self-bio so here I go: My name is Antonio, but friends call me AnT. I have been a part of Q Action since February 1998, and have been in my staff position since September '98. I am a Bay Area native, born and raised in East Oakland and I try to bring my own flava to the prevention work that we do with young men. Outreach is my main gig, as I focus primarily on face to face conversations and leading group discussions. Communication is the key to understanding, so empowering young guys to do this with accurate information is a high priority.

I also believe in being yourself, not just changing to what you think it must mean to be gay. Never worry about fitting into the gay community, just be true to yourself and you'll find others will respect you for that. Then you'll meet other folks who truly have common ground with you.

As anyone who knows me would tell you, I am a huge 49er fan! I love sports, but football comes first in my house. I'm also a huge music lover, particularly old school. Mr. Gaye, Aretha and all that Motown sound, plus the sounds of today. I do enjoy San Francisco, but could see myself living elsewhere one day, as the Bay Area has become a place full of boring yuppies and indirect, unaccountable people. It's not quite the urban, fun place that I grew up in, where we actually had some civic pride. I hold out hope that even while doing HIV prevention, we can build some sense of community here that young men can take pride in, with whatever "diversity" that they bring to the table.

To wrap up, stop by our cozy Q-Crib and converse, and remember to enjoy living life by starting with loving yourself. Stand up for what you believe in and empower yourself to make informed choices about your health and sex life. Know how to say "yes" and how to say "hell no!" Vote. Get involved with a team or fun group. There are lots of great guys throughout the city and a lot of information that you can use in your own life, so try teaming up with Q Action and get a taste of both.
Till I see you….

That "get checked for syphillis" poster is targeted to children. Disgusting!

Michelle Malkin is great. She used to post here at FR, but don't think she does anymore. Not since she left Seattle a couple of years ago.

The accuser says that in those eight years, he learned that Shanley was living with a transvestite named Dale, and that he routinely cruised bars searching for underage boys to have sex with.

It's a job racket for bums!!! Just take a look at how many unemployable individuals work for this crap of an organization. Where else could they have fun and get paid for it?

Staff...

This is their idea of what causes AIDS...

HIV infection is closely linked to and often fueled by structural factors such as poverty, discrimination, and lack of power for women. In Harare, Zimbabwe, an agency created employment strategies to help people with AIDS break the chain of poverty and take control of their lives and health. The program applied for loans and grants to form cooperatives to make clothes and run canteens.13 Economic development programs can be effective HIV prevention by providing alternatives to sex work for women and helping families afford healthcare and treatment for HIV+ persons.

Political and legislative factors can also hamper HIV prevention. For example, there is currently a ban on federal funding for needle exchange programs in the US. Connecticut addressed the problem of access to clean needles through a program that cost the state nothing and was highly effective. A partial repeal of needle prescription and drug paraphernalia laws resulted in dramatic reductions in needle sharing, and increases in pharmacy purchase of syringes by IDUs. Needle sharing dropped from 52% before the new laws to 31% after implementation, street purchase fell from 74% to 28%, and pharmacy purchase rose from 19% to 78%.14

I lived in SF when AIDS first arrived and in the beginning, the gay guys truly didn't know what hit them. It was frightening and sad seeing so many young men, some of them friends, dropping dead. But soon they learned how HIV is transmitted. And kept right on transmitting -- like jackrabbits. Sympathy I felt for the first AIDS victims was quickly replaced by rage at their stupidity and disregard for life. A fellow I knew well and considered a close friend escaped the virus for years. But kept calling to say he was getting tested again. And again. He was absolutely determined to get HIV and finally "succeeded." Gays' proclivity for frequent, unprotected, and "fun" sex in the face of possible death says to me they are quite mad. Crazy enought to be institutionalized, all of them.

Looks like the earthquake and fire of 1906 are far too long in the past to remember.  Even after their freeway collapsed they didn't get the message.  There's a whole lot of provoking of the Ruler of the Universe going on.

Woe! I'm not a great believer in Bible Codes as "predicters" (although some could be post-event interesting "confirmers"), but if your link comes true, I will certainly reconsider. Now, adjusting my hat, if whoever wants to nuke Chicago conspired with the Gaston fellow to produce the Bible Code chart "predicting" it, then we have a true to life man-made event and a real conspiracy.

Theres some evidence appearing that they're interactive, historically correct, for the future 'possibilities' which we can avoid or delay in fact in several wrong predictions people have gone back and got additional responses like 'delayed' or 'avoided'.
