Statements on a Web site attributed to al-Qaida's spokesman claim that Osama bin Laden will soon make a televised addressed to the Muslim world.
The remarks, purportedly made by Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, appeared on an Arabic-language Web site that issues daily updates on the war in Afghanistan.
"We assure Muslims that Sheik Osama bin Laden is in good health, and all that has been reported about his sickness or his being injured in Tora Bora is completely false. The sheik will address the (Muslim) community soon in a televised interview," Abu Ghaith was quoted as saying.
There was no way to independently confirm the authenticity of the remarks. The Bush administration has said that it does not know whether bin Laden is alive or dead.
A three-part series signed by Abu Ghaith and entitled "Why we fight America," appeared last month on an Islamic militant Web site which has been up and down for months.
The latest comments were posted Wednesday, according to the site, and include a photo of bin Laden kneeling between Abu Ghaith and Ayman Al-Zawahri, bin Laden's Egyptian lieutenant. The picture was taken from a video on Oct. 7, the same day the United States launched its military campaign against Afghanistan's former ruling Taliban and al-Qaida, responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks.
"America should get ready and fasten its safety belt," Abu Ghaith was quoted as saying. "We will come to them from where they don't expect. Yes, we will wage attacks, but at the right time, at the place we want and in the way we please."
Abu Ghaith, a former teacher and mosque preacher who was stripped of his Kuwaiti citizenship after the Sept. 11 attacks, allegedly said that "98 percent of al-Qaida's leadership is safe ... The battle will intensify soon, God willing, inside and outside Afghanistan."

The spokesman added that bin Laden is in such good health that supporters will be pleased to see he looks months, perhaps years younger in the video.
a) Osama has about 1 billion muslim friends who would be honored to hide him and kiss his ass.
b) Osama has a lot of money.
c) The world is a really big place
d) He is a coward who sends others to die while he hides.
People say he must be dead because he has not made any more public announcements. They are making the mistake of assuming that osama needs to play to the western concept of "bravery".
To us that means putting one's self at risk to further a just cause. Muslims are tought by the Koran to hide from the infidel, deceive them and ambush them. By hiding now, Osama is just convienently "serving allah".
It would be cool to get him alive.
We may not know whether the coward Osama is still alive, but we know for sure Abu Ghaith is, which leads to the question,WHY isn't something being done about it?.
For that matter, WHY is Arafat still alive?.
Apparently it pleases these whackos to bring on the destruction of Middle East prosperity and sovereignty.
