Well...the biggest part was I am lazy. He went to all the trouble to format it nicely, and I would have had to reduce it to plain text and add all the tags to break the paragraphs, etc. A pain in the neck when I am already late for work.

Plus the original has all source has all the supporting links documenting his point.

It just seems easier to have people click on the link. And, by shift-clicking it opens the link in a new window (most browsers) so you don't lose your place in FR.

After being upset about Caribou Coffee, click on the link to The Thunderbird. I have laughed out loud sitting here all by myself. (Dog thinks I'm nuts.) Be sure you take the entire tour! LOL!

He sez that boycotting is foolish because regaurding anyone associated with Islam MIGHT be associated with terrorists is wrong,I say PHOOEY! First, now that Caribou is out in the light lets hear it's majority holder publicly denounce the terrorists and say they would do anything in their power to overcome the beasts,THEN I will drink that poopy 3 bags I have left in my cupboard from 2 x-mas's ago.....the guy is right, the coffee sucks, the no-name stuff we have at work out of a never cleaned maker is better.

Personally,I wouldn't trust anything a middle-easterner puts in a sealed package for consumption.A group I was in a few weeks ago were discussing how easy it would be if someone was to taint something popular like Mt.Dew or Taco Bell,I never thought of coffee until now.....

Oh yeah, that was the other reason I wanted people to click over to Lilek's page. Everyone should know about Lileks.

We need a website for a central repository that everyone can reference to find out which companies are owned by the Ismalists, ChiComs, etc.

And you are right!
Just click on this link and go to the Islamic Investment Bank website.
Read their "principles":

Above all, ensuring that all activities conform to Islamic Shari'ah

'nuff said.

I dont remember Caribou Coffee charging rescue workers in NYC for bottles of water. I do remember Starbucks doing it. They have since apologized and donated money to 9/11 causes.

Personally, i have better financial sense than to pay that kind of money for a cup of coffee. I will stick with my plain ol black coffee from the coffee maker next to my desk and at home.

Cresents access to capital!
Access to Capital Crescent is able to invest more than $100 million in a single transaction due to its unique sources of capital. In addition to the capital resources of First Islamic, investors in the Middle East control large pools of capital and continuously seek attractive investments outside the region, particularly in the United States. Our proven placement capability allows us to underwrite large transactions with confidence. Our investment size can thus be tailored to the requirements of the transaction, unlike traditional buyout funds that must limit their investment to a percentage of the fund.

Even though you piss me off sometimes, I've got to thank you for a great morning laugh. The part about Rambers hanging from the ceiling and the Indian head in the glass box were too much. I will be staying there if I'm ever up that way.

What a splendid monument to the tacky 70s.

Well, a day without p*ssing you off is a day wasted. :-)

I recommend going all over that guy's site. There are lots of links, and he is very good and finding the humor in small things. I am buying my brother-in-law The Gallery of Regrettable Food for his birthday. Ha!

From the Cresent Capital Web page!

Founded in 1997, Crescent is the U.S. private equity arm of First Islamic Investment Bank E.C. First Islamic is an innovative Islamic investment bank, headquartered in Bahrain, with assets of over $200 million. First Islamic’s 80 shareholders include some of the most prominent individuals, families and institutions in the Middle East, who together control liquid funds in excess of $100 billion. The Bank arranges the capital needed for a transaction (equity, mezzanine or senior financing) and then privately places the investment with its shareholders and other investors or financial institutions in the Middle East. First Islamic maintains a significant ownership interest in and, together with its co-investors, voting control of each of the investments it arranges. The Bank’s other lines of business are real estate and asset management.
