Memphis, TN - Nine people have been shot, many of them children after a shootout around 2:40 this afternoon at a home at 3448 Rosamond in the Highland Heights neighborhood in northeast Memphis.
Chief Bob Wright says a 3-year-old child is in extremely critical condition, the other victims are a 53-year-old female, a 22-year-old female, two 13-year-old females, a 15-year-old female, a 19- year-old male, an 8-year-old male and a 4-year-old male.
Wright says the incident started on Rockwell street when a male who was being pursued got out of his car, ran through the backyard, and ran into the house at 3448 Rosamond. Wright says two of the suspects were apprehended not far from the scene after eyewitnesses gave police good descriptions of the suspects and their vehicles. Chief Wright says a semi automatic weapon was involved. An eyewitness says it was gang related. The eyewitness says two men broke the door down and started shooting.
