So, what was said on C-SPAN?

I didn't catch it. Hopefully someone posts a thread on it.

Since you're here, let me ask you, have you scrolled this thread much? What's your impression of the drop-of-the-hat charges of racism, with citations of the Southern Kalifornia Anarchist Alliance (at #19) as evidence?

Well, I can tell you that those kind of scurrilous charges make me even less sympathetic to the point of view forwarded by those who make them. :-)

I cannot fathom how being against ILLEGAL immigration can even be controversial. Political correctness gone mad.

In fact, not only do I believe illegal immigration should be choked off, illegals deported & their employers prosecuted, I want our entire legal immigration system reformed, the family reunification component abolished, amendment 14 to the constitution reinterpreted to restore its original intent and qualifications for entry tightened to admit only those who have something demonstrable to offer this country.

If only we could get a political party going who shared these ideas and ran solely on them. I don't know what gives one country like Mexico the idea their citizens have more of a right than others around the world to immigrate here? Let them stay home and make their OWN countries better.

Won't happen until Americans for immigration reform are no longer intimidated by those name callers who want to shut us up.

Thanks for the Ping Sabertooth. The C-Span show was excellent. What impressed me the most was that just about every caller to the show be it republican, democrat or “other” came out strongly for major reforms in our immigration policies, particularly on the illegal side. YES—DEMOCRATS TOO! Out of roughly 15 callers only 2 indicated support for our present polices, then only weakly. On balance the callers were articulate, informative, and angry with the present immigration mess.

And the show covered a lot of ground in an hour. Just about every area of immigration was touched on including: the staggering societal costs of illegal immigration, the anchor baby fraud, how our cities are turning into crime zones, the deleterious effect on our culture as a result of non-assimilation, over-population and the free-ride business gets from cheap illegal labor.

I was also glad that the guest from the Center for Immigration Studies twice mentioned that BOTH parties, for different reasons, support the immigration “free for all” and that they purposelessly thwart the will of the people (WH included) on behalf of business and ethnic activists groups. One lady caller went so far as to say that if we want to halt illegal immigration we have to vote out all incumbents in both parties.

Over time I have reluctantly come to this conclusion as well. The correspondence I have gotten back from my representatives in Congress indicates to me, after cutting through all the PC double talk, an unwillingness to do anything remotely related to controlling immigration in this country. If history is any guide, there have be political casualties before our elected leaders start listening to the electorate on contentious issues like this.

In sum, the overwhelming support and passion of the callers for immigration control gave me a sense of optimism that more and more Americans are recognizing how reckless immigration has put this country on course with disaster and something has to be done about it--NOW. Watch for immigration reform to be an increasingly hot button election issue in the years ahead. Our elected leaders dismiss this issue at their own peril. As the CIS guest said, if you want change call your elected representatives "early and often".

Nope. I believe we should have a moratorium on ALL immigration until we get this mess straightened out.

I cannot fathom how being against ILLEGAL immigration can even be controversial. Political correctness gone mad.

It is amazing that the PC wars are being fought over Illegal Immigration...but here are some juicy facts...

I heard a witness describe how the illegal immigrants who work as farmworkers are **forced** to get in buses and wave Mexican Flags and hold Painted Signs in front of the Capital whenever our Legislators are voting on the issue of Illegal Immigration.

All these people want to do is work, but before they are allowed to start their day, they MUST do their civic duty... They don't even know how to speak English or read the signs they are carrying!

The illegals are being USED by the Liberal Left to increase their power over our Elected Representatives.

Power and Influence...that's all this is about. It's about taking away power and influence from individual Americans who vote.

The South had African slaves doing all the work.
The Liberals have Mexican workers to use as slaves.

America shouldn't allow God's people to be used like this, and perhaps if we thought more on the ethical issue, that would be reason enough to STOP illegal immigration.

If we allow people to migrate legally and make sure they speak English first, they couldn't be used by the Liberal Power Brokers!

And just for the record, "voting against" incumbents of both parties on this issue is WRONG WRONG WRONG. Haven't you heard? Hillary's OUT THERE! If we think illegal immigration is hurting our country..just WAIT till a Democrat-Majority Senate **and** President Hillary gets ahold of US!

Vote GOP...it's the SWEETEST REVENGE! :)

I see your point with Hillary but can you tell me the difference between Bush's open border policies and Clinton's? Or point out any material differences between the democrat and republican parties as it pertains to immigration?

Couldn't agree with you more, but the problem is some of the Republicans on this issue are as bad or worse than the democrats. EVERY single NY State Republican voted for the 245(i) amnesty the last time it was up in the House, where the reformers lost by one vote. And Governor Pataki wants us poor taxpaying saps to pay for the college education of illegal aliens. Other than NYC, the state doesn't have a major problem with illegal immigration- yet. But the Republicans, not the democrats are literally inviting them to come.

No one would like to see a conservative House and Senate more than me given the way the liberals had control for 40 years. But like it or not, if we are to get control of this major issue facing the country, some RINO's are going to have to go down to defeat. It's all they understand. Complaining behind a computer alone isn't going to do it.

The South United States had free africans and also african slaves who were sold into slavery by their tribal leaders. Any other arrows you care to sling at the Southeast U.S.?

I refuse to be a Republican party robot. Country comes before party, and on the issue of immigration anyway both are selling us out. I will support any politician who joins Tom Tancredo's reform caucus committed to restoring immigration laws to work in the interest of the country, not big business or ethnic lobbies.

I refuse to be a Republican party robot.

Nor I for exactly same reasons. There is little motivation for either party to alter their reckless open borders policies unless voters make immigration reform their defining issue. Voting for the lesser of evils only locks in the immigration crisis ad infinitum.
