MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Reuters) - With Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson cloistered away 24 hours ahead of their world title fight, Hollywood heavyweights stole the spotlight on Friday as they flocked to the home of the blues.

The allure and mystic of a heavyweight title fight has attracted an A list of Hollywood and sporting celebrities to the banks of the Mississippi, their entourages taking over entire hotels, restaurants and bars along the city's most famous avenue -- Beale Street.

Actors Tom Cruise and Richard Gere have been sighted, while Oscar winners Denzel Washington and Halle Berry and pop star Britney Spears are also expected in town.

Spears, Berry, Evander Holyfield and wrestling champion "the Rock" will host a pre-fight party where tickets will cost up to $800.

Actors Clint Eastwood, Ben Affleck and Leonardo Di Caprio are also expected along with rapper LL Cool J and pop star Michael Jackson.

Leroy Neiman is in Memphis to paint the fight while cameramen from the Jay Leno TV show were stationed at Graceland looking for humorous interviews.

The Memphis Convention Centre says that hotels in the city are completely booked, forcing some celebrities to go to some of the casinos in nearby Tunica, Mississippi.

Sam's Town casino, which has served as Lewis's training headquarters, has all 850 rooms booked this weekend.

The celebrity scene is expected to move into top gear on Saturday with MTV and HBO both hosting glitzy pre-fight parties.

Playboy owner Hugh Hefner and a host of Bunnies are also rumored to be in town hosting a pajama party at an unconfirmed location.

Someone explain to me how the Hollywood left reconciles their liberal, feel-good, peace and love, anti-violence, anti-handgun, caring and sharing politics with this attraction to this most brutal and violent of all so-called "sports"?

The dirt talk is about what Tyson will do to get the fight cancelled before he has to go the rounds.

Wonder if Lewis will wear big sturdy headphones during the fight? Something around the ankles might be a good idea too. ;o)

Will there be a live thread for those who can't see the fight?

The 'big fight' will be a huge fiasco and a waste of time and money ....More like the WWF than a major fight .... watch for Tyson to bloody Lewis with his teeth ... Hope he is arrested again.

I simply do not see why film personalities line up for this type of trash entertainment.

The same way the reconcile their feelings towards you wanting airline pilots to be armed, demanding that we let the federal guberment protect you, then call me to fly them away to Europe for the weekend aboard a $45 million private jet.

Duplicity at its finest.

Given what Tyson threatened about reporters's kids, I would also wear a Kevlar cup.

"I simply do not see why film personalities line up for this type of trash entertainment."

First off define "personalities" ? Could it be that they are drawn by the old adage, "fools faces, like their names, always seen in public places"? Yeah, I know I reversed the order of names and faces.

Since most entertainment these days "is" trash, maybe it was just an excuse to party at tax-payers expense by calling it a business trip to observe their competitors and getting a tax write off come next April one five.
