In accordance with section 1084 of the Fiscal Year 1998 National Defense Authorization Act, the Secretary of Defense approved awarding Cold War Recognition Certificates to all members of the armed forces and qualified federal government civilian personnel who faithfully and honorably served the United States anytime during the Cold War era, which is defined as Sept. 2, 1945 to Dec. 26, 1991.
This is the only official site on which to request Cold War Recognition Certificates. This site is operated by the United States Army, the executive agency for the Cold War Recognition Program. Cold War Recognition Certificates are available to qualified individuals at no cost. Good Morning from a rain soaked and severely wind blown North Texas. Many folks are cleaning up from yesterdays storm. I know I have my work cut out for me this weekend, a few of my fence posts snapped off at the ground and I have to repair them. I feel that Sassy and I were lucky, there are about 30 families that were displaced due to storm damage and one 12 year old boy was killed by a lightning strike. my prayers go out to his family.

Bill Kristol and his ilk thus can pother and fuss, grumble and grouse, moan and murmur, whine and bellyache all they want, but Bush will not be rushed, hurried, pushed or pressured into ill-advised, precipitous action in Baghdad -- or anywhere else, for that matter.

Oh, rest assured, Saddam Hussein's days are numbered -- he will be ousted -- but it'll be done on Bush's timetable, not that of rackety armchair commandos at the Weekly Standard, who have never risked their own necks nor worned a uniform.

Shouldering a keyboard is one thing, shouldering an M-16 is quite another.

Moreover, let's not forget how hideously amiss Kristol et al were during the Afghan campaign's early weeks (circa mid-October to November 11). Unwilling to endure any delay, warriors of the Weekly Standard 'bravely' pushed for a full-scale ground invasion of Afghanistan, with tens of thousands of boots on the ground.

Had the President followed such foolish "advise", a costly quagmire would've resulted, with hundreds -- if not thousands -- of dead U.S. military personnel.

Bill Kristol -- military genius par excellence? Yeah, right.

Thankfully -- though not surprisingly -- the Commander-in-Chief wisely eschewed Gen. Kristol's "advise" and went on to make quick work of the Taliban and al-Qaeda in what will be remembered as one the swiftest -- and most decisive -- military triumphs in history. U.S. casualties were kept to a minimum.

The keyboard commandos scurried into their caves.
