At least 32 killed in suicide attack in India's Kashmir

NEW DELHI, May 14, 2002 (Kyodo via COMTEX) -- Suspected Muslim militants attacked a bus and stormed into a nearby army camp in India's Jammu and Kashmir state Tuesday, killing at least 32 people including 22 army soldiers and their family members, Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

Three of the five separatist militants were killed in the apparent suicide attack on the camp in Kaluchak, about 10 kilometers from Jammu, the winter capital of the strife-torn state.

The separatists, clad in army fatigues, first attacked the bus, killing seven passengers, before storming into the camp and killing mostly family members of the soldiers present on the premises.

It is the latest terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir, India's only Muslim-majority state, since late March, when Muslim separatists attacked a busy marketplace in Jammu.

Muslim militants have been waging a separatist insurgency in the state since the late 1980s, which has left more than 25,000 dead and thousands injured.

India accuses arch-foe Pakistan of fueling militancy in the state. The two nuclear neighbors have amassed troops on their common border since December following a suicide attack on India's parliament allegedly by Pakistan-backed militants.

The attack comes during a visit to New Delhi by U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Christina Rocca aimed at reducing tensions between the world's newest nuclear powers.

More from Islam(planes into buildings, slit women's throats, sexually mutilate little girls and murder children), the religion of peace. How sweet of them.

Human civilization had better wake up and get as serious about our survival as the seventh-century mohammedan savages are about our annihilation!

So are muslims going to scream occupation when it comes to their terrorism in India?

War between India and Pakistan is inevitable. The only question is will it start before, during, or after we attack Iraq.

Oh, thank you so much for the brave advisory. But don't worry, if the mean bullies attack your silly little island, we Americans will come to your rescue... AGAIN.

I suppose it must be easy to shoot one's mouth off when one's big brother is actually a MAN.

Wager in what, Euros? Like that POS currency carries any weight here. Say goodbye to your sovereignty, Wanker - welcome to the EU. Hard to believe that the Fourth Reich succeeded where the Third one didn't - without firing a shot they've taken over England. Don't cry for help this time though, we've got enough to do without bailing Europe out of its' self-made problems again.

What would be the negative results of our pres admitting this out loud before the world?

I would suggest this attack is designed for the express purpose of ratcheting up tension between India and Pakistan.

Don't be naive. Such attacks are carried out with the full connivance of Pak border military and the ISI. If Pakistan really wanted to end cross-border terrorism, they could easily stop terrorist infiltration into Indian Kashmir from Pakistan. On the contrary, Pak border military provides cover to militants sneaking into India.
