Democrats to Sic Carville On Gov at Convention
New York Daily News ^ | 5/10/02 | JOE MAHONEY

State Democrats are about to unleash a new razor-tongued weapon against Gov. Pataki — spinmeister James Carville, known for being about as subtle as a pitbull on steroids.

With Pataki's ratings high as he seeks a third term, the Democrats have lined up the party's Ragin' Cajun to rip the Republican incumbent at their May 22-23 state convention in Manhattan.

Carville, who served former President Bill Clinton as a top strategist and is now co-host of CNN's "Crossfire," is expected to make a point of linking Pataki to President Bush, who two years ago was crushed in New York by Al Gore in the race for the White House.

"[Carville] is going to remind us that post-war approval ratings mean nothing when you go straight to the voters with the issues," said state Democratic spokeswoman Serena Torrey, noting Carville's tactics helped make Bush's father a one-term President.

Negative Attack Politics

State GOP Director Patrick McCarthy slammed the Democrats for rolling out their "top national attack dog," saying, "Everyone acknowledges that this is a time to unify New Yorkers."

"He'll do what Democrats do best — negative, partisan, attack politics," McCarthy said.

Key Democrat Bill Clinton will be a no-show, Torrey said.

The former President had been invited for a prominent speaking role but will be traveling outside the country at that time, Torrey said.

The attendance of Sens. Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer is iffy because congressional votes are scheduled on both days of the convention.

Pataki has led his two Democratic rivals, Andrew Cuomo and state Controller Carl McCall, by hefty margins in a string of recent polls. The governor is scheduled to kick off his reelection drive in his hometown of Peekskill tomorrow.

"top national attack dog,"

Only in a pig's eye, it is an "ankle-biter" with loose false teeth.

When all else fails, America's elected officals do what they do best. They relay on their best liers.

Wake up American voters, when it comes to getting/losing power the needs of the country are of little concern. Power at all cost is the most important.

Oooooo, I'm sure Gov. Pataki is soooo scared. LOL

What carville doesn't know is Mary will be waiting in the wings ready to smack jim's pee pee and then tell him to sit and down and shut-up.

All the strategy that Pataki needs is to jam a stick into Cuomo's cage and let him spew more vitroil.

A thought just occured to me:

Do you suppose that Carville practices in front of a mirror?

He is one " frightening figure" who is currently a part of CNN's "Shoutfeist" .

"I didn't know the Taco Bell dog was a Kiss fan."

It is just his way of telling Carville to "Kiss It."

I'm sure he'll be recieved very well here in NY. I mean, Gore really only did well in NYC, which is a democratic stronghold heavily influenced by a Jewish voting block, and I'm sure he can rely on the Jews to be there for the (palestinian apologist) left again. And it's not like anything else has changed in the city since the presidential election 2 years ago. Well except for that bit of Multi-cultural urban renewal that we have going on downtown. Some of you may remember it. (I know the widow of my freind of 20 years certainly does)

Carville might be in for a bit of a suprise.

You mean the war is over and someone forgot to tell me? Dang, I'm always the last to know.

And there is the problem
The democrats are alley fighters while the GOP are wimps afraid of their own shadows

Carville has now become well enough known and widely enough disliked that his acid words will fall on deaf ears.
