Remember my posts about the abortion petition. I've decided to bring it back to FR since my sibs seem so unwilling to take it to their schools.
I have a great idea to get yall to sign (no, I'm not going to stick a post on everything that has to do with abortion like I did last time). This time I'm pinging ALL of you, BWAHAHAHAHA! YES! If you have a locale, you will be pinged! BTW, I'm sorry to bother you if you already signed this petition. If you haven't signed, sign.
My pants tumble off effortlessly.
We have enough of a problem already with judges who see themselves as philosopher-kings. We don't need conservatives encouraging them even further down that road. I'm sorry, but someone needs to draw the line.
Mammy keep me safe, Mammy keep me warm,
And with all your love, help me to form.
I'm six weeks today and a birthday gift to me,
Is a pair of bright blue eyes so that one day I might see.
I've already got my arms, I have a pudgy little nose,
And at the end of my feet are funny little things called toes.
I'm looking forward now to life; icecream, snails,
Teddy bears and long fairy tales.
Where are you going I wonder today?
In a bus, in a car, far far away.
Why are you lying down being pushed on four wheels?
This doesn't happen - how funny it feels.
Banging through doors - all people in green,
If they hurt you Mammy;Mammy just scream.
Don't go asleep Mammy, don't leave me alone.
Mammy I'm scared, I want to go home.
Mammy what's happening, I'm starting to cry.
Run quick Mammy, I don't want to die.
They're killing me Mammy, they're pulling me apart.
My legs, my arms, they're cutting my heart.
Goodbye Mammy;Mammy,Mammy Goodbye.
Thanks for trying, but I won't see the sky.
I won't see the birds or the grass or the trees,
I won't sing sweet songs or feel a strange breeze.
I love you, dear Mammy, I really, really do
And I hope dear Mammy, that you loved me too.
I think folks are just sick of the plethora of "petitiononline" petitions.
It seems like there is one out there for every cause under the sun.
Do they really have any effect, other than to assuage the guilty consciences of those who sign them?
After all, it's easy to sign a petition on line. You don't have to "get off your tush" at all.
Now writing a letter - or gettin' out and FReeping - is another story.
But what I very much disagree with is encouraging judges to make legal rulings based on appeals to morality. What if a law is immoral?
That's why our founding fathers established the judicial branch of government as a final check
(along with informed juries) on the legislative and executive branches.
Let's hope that good judges are ALWAYS moved by moral arguments.
Just my opinion, of course...
What if a law is immoral?
Then the judges should recuse themselves from making a legal ruling. If he feels the law is immoral, he should just say so. But judges have no more authority to declare a law invalid on the basis of morality, than you or I do. His power only extends to applying the law (or refusing to), and to nothing else.
