[history]
Kristinn Taylor, one of the organizers of the recent "Patriots Rally for America" held on the grounds of the Washington Monument in support of America and its troops, wrote a letter to D.C. Police Chief Charles H. Ramsey commending him and Metropolitan Police for a job well done in keeping the city safe from left-leaning counterdemonstrators.

Hope this helps find your truck, GWV.
BTW, I'm misidentified as female in here because the Chief's response was addressed to "Miss" Taylor. LOL !

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse than San Francisco city government, you post this gem.
To: kristinn
...KRISTINN was indeed a -Hit- ..not a -Miss- ..on C-Span the morning of the Patriots 4-America Rally.
...With BILL CLINTON now coming out of his TV closet to Host a TV Talk Show to sell the Women Voters of America that .."9/11 ain't my Fault".. and to vote for a Democrat House of Representatives in 2002 so there will be President HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON in 2004...
...we're going to need a lot more ..KRISTINN's.. on TV.
To: kristinn
If the highest ranking official in the police department can do no more than give you a bogus phone number, the truck is definitely a lost cause.
The Chief was too busy on the 20th to see you on CSPAN, otherwise he never would have called you Miss.... I'm sure it isn't the first time that's happened to you though...

Wouldn't you know, the communications branch phone number provided by the police chief "is not in service." I almost didn't believe, but I just dialed the number and confirmed that it's no longer in service. What a city of incompetent boobs!

File the missing truck as a theft......Then demand that the impound personnel be arrested.....and the chief for aiding and abetting.....
Put the claim into your insurance, if the police can't find it and they are the defacto bailee, you have a legitimate loss......
BTW, I'm not a lawyer so any Freepers that are put in your comments....

Unfortunately nothing new with this event. The Metropolitan Police Dept routinely lose track of impounded vehicles. Some of it is just the endemic incompetence of the third world style government the Nation's Capitol boasts. However, a good bit is a result of a pretty widespread racket operated by cops and corrupt towing companies. ( I know the last phrase is an oxymoron.) Vehicles are ordered towed for real, trivial, or wholly specious reasons by a patrol officer. The officer calls the "correct" tow company on his private cell or sometimes relays the direction through the police radio net. The appropriate tow company shows up and takes the vehicle away. The paperwork is "incomplete" so that the vehicle owner cannot trace the vehicle to a specific tow lot. From there the vehicle may never be found and disposed of to a present buyer of hot cars or it may end up in a chop shop. If this doesn't happen the tow lot operator will skeep the vehicle until it accumulates a hefty storage "charge", say $1200 or so and then surprise-surprise will "trace" the ownwr and inform him/her of the location of thie vehicle and the bill owed to get it back. The cops and tow lot opeartors split the proceeds of this racket. The stench from this operation finally got so bad that last year the MPD reluctantly owned up to some"problems" in the towing process. A few towtruck drivers were prosecuted and the DC City Council, with some reluctance, passed a supposed uniform tariff of charges to be applied to impunded vehicles. The size of this racket is very large and just one of a host of banana republic activities members of the MPD engage in. I hope the truck is found but offer little optimism that it will be and if "found" will not have expensive items stripped from it. I try to avoid even driving into DC and really restrict going there to a minimum. The city government is rotten in every way and rank and file civilians are viewed as prospective marks for various government sponsored shakedowns.

Considering the high likelihood of the scenario robowombat presents, NeverGore's advice sounds like a wise plan of action to implement!

The Chief can't find the D.C. Tele-Communications Branch and you expect them to find your auto..........LOLOL......
Sorry, it's really not funny. We had an auto stolen in NYC and the incompetence of the police department was quite the eyeopener.
Our insurance company asked one question.......where was the car stolen. When we told them NYC, they told us a check would be in the mail immediately. They didn't want to deal with the P.D. either.

...addressed to "Miss" Taylorfoflmao ...

Congratulations on you new identity, Kristinn. When the Wash. Times prints it, you know that its official.
This was McCaslin, right? You've met him before, haven't you? Not that he can be expected to remember the gender of everybody that he meets.

Washington DC has become a third world country.
I suppose we could donate it to the Palestinians.
They would fit right in.
Kills 2 birds with one stone.
Gets rid of a liability for us, and solves the Palestine problem.
The "chief" and Arafat should get along well.
