These Operation names are not plucked from thin air. They usually have two or more meanings based on the stated and unstated objectives.
In this one, who is the snipe, who is the bag holder and who are the beaters?
You may be right. It depends on how much they rely on Afghan troops. At any rate, the war is now mostly being fought there and not in downtown New York City.
That's because you assume this article's inference is correct. I see nothing here to back up the article's title.
And it's so darn easy to criticize the military from behind the keyboard, isn't it? Remember, they're out there putting their lives on the line for you.
O'Reilly had Col David Hackworth on last night, who said the US Army had forgotten everything they learned in Viet Nam and were making the same mistakes. Let's hope they've re-learned the lessons from Tora Bora and Anaconda and they bag the entire lot.

I don't know your credentials, but I've done a 4 stint with the New York Guard, Military Police (as well as 2 years ROTC in college before I bailed on the civvy clause). It's not much, I grant you that freely. But it gives me the right to talk about military issues without being accused of being a keyboard commando.
Besides, I was making a joke that was too obvious to pass up.
I'm a peace time vet, and wish like hell I'd have stayed in sometimes. Especially when Desert Storm hit, and now this. I am sometimes angered at my short sightedness. I am supportive of our people, and wish them success.
