If they cited that book as the source of the 'righteousness' of that murderous action, then yes. If that book contained passages that encouraged killing innocents as a means of entering Nirvana/Heaven/Bliss/etc, then yes.

Can you please cite the last time a Hindu, Buddhist, or Christian cited passages as a justification for mass-murder? (For the Christian example, I'm sure we could find a few crack-pots... didn't Jim Jones try to use the Bible? Goodness, Teach, haven't you read the Bhagavad Gita, that most holy of all Hindu sacred literature? It's one, long narrative poem in which the son of God brings the son of Man to understand why he must slaughter his kinfolk's people.
