One NATO soldier killed, two injured in a traffic accident in Macedonia

Tue Apr 30, 4:35 PM ET

SKOPJE, Macedonia - A traffic accident late Tuesday claimed the life of a NATO (news - web sites) peacekeeper here and left two other peacekeepers seriously injured, a NATO spokesman said.

The accident happened on a main highway near Skopje's airport, NATO spokesman Craig Ratcliff said.

He released no details of the accident and declined to release the soldiers' names or nationalities. The survivors were being treated at Skopje's main hospital for serious injuries, he said.

It was unclear whether the peacekeepers were part of forces deployed in Macedonia or in Kosovo, the Yugoslav province just north of Macedonia. NATO peacekeepers in Kosovo have their logistics base in Macedonia.

The Serbs also experianced an accident just a couple of days ago. Of course that was an intentional accident: Sun Apr 28, 1:28 PM ET Two Yugoslav soldiers were injured when their vehicle drove over a land mine in southern Serbia near the Kosovo border, the government said Sunday, calling the incident a terrorist attack.

Don't ya love that name 'Peacekeeper'? Keeping peace over what? What are they doing in Macedonia besides tracking Muslim expansionism? They certainly aren't protecting the Othodox people of Eastern Europe.
