Results of Interrogation of Hamas Operative Nasser Yatima who was Involved in the Suicide Bombing of Park Hotel in Netanya
**************************************************************************
16 April 2002
Nasser Yatima , a resident of Tulkarem and a military operative of Hamas, was arrested by IDF forces in Nablus during the Defensive Shield operation . During interrogation he admitted to personal involvement in the Park Hotel bombing in Netanya on Passover night, in which 28 civilians were killed and 65 wounded.
In the interrogation Nasser said that a month before the bombing he was asked by one of his controllers to empty a weapons cache that was hidden in the women's toilet of a mosque in Tulkarem . Nasser and another friend came to the mosque on a Thursday and late at night, with his friend guarding the entrance, Nasser entered the women's toilet and removed a heavy handbag that contained an explosive belt.
On the day of the suicide bombing he was called by his controller and introduced to Abed Al-Basat Uda, the perpetrator of the bombing, whom Nasser helped prepare for the bombing. Nasser also videotaped the suicide bomber and his speech before he left.
Nasser admitted in his interrogation that he participated in a shooting attack against an Israeli tank when the IDF first entered Tulkarm.
He also admitted to training with an M-16 rifle and a handgun, which he left on the street in Nablus before giving himself up to the IDF.
The arrest of Nasser is one in a number of arrests of Hamas operatives in the Shomron area, operatives who were involved in many attacks which resulted in tens of dead civilians and hundreds of wounded. These arrests are a major part of the heavy damage to the terrorist infrastructure during the "Defensive Shield" operation.
Freepers with bomb squad experience - Is this not the traditional way of handling this type of stuff? Or is this only what you're trained to do for _armed_ bombs?
:) ttt
I guess if you're part of a holy war, ordered by God to kill all the infidels, why not stash weapons in your mosque?
Wouldn't it be a shame if sometime between now and then it got the "Tomahawk chop"? (watch for secondaries...)
The Dome of the Rock, technically not a mosque but a shrine, is on the northern part of the Temple Mount and has a golden dome. It was built in the 687-692 era.
Al Aqsa ("The Faraway") is the much larger building, suitable for mass assembly, on the southern part of the Temple esplanade, built from c702-707, with embellishment continuing till the death of abd-el-Malik in 715.
A third mosque has recently been constructed UNDER Al-Aqsa in part of what used to be called "Solomon's Stables."
