Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said more violence would not solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and rejected any idea that Egypt should go to war against the Jewish state.
"Violence produces only more violence", said Mubarak in an interview in the government daily Akhbar Al-Yaum on Saturday.
Mubarak added that "every brutal operation by the Israeli army against the Palestinians is followed by a suicide operation by a young totally desperate Palestinian".
Mubarak conveyed "some are calling on me, through Arab satellite channels, to launch a war against Israel in response to the brutal attacks against ... Palestinians and the destruction of their cities, villages and infrastructure." But he rejected that, saying "history proves that war does not solve conflicts."
He also said that "war, in the case of the Palestinians and Israelis, would serve no purpose" and would only "increase the hatred" between the two sides.
"Sitting down at the negotiating table is the only (solution) to halt the cycle of violence and counter violence," stated the Egyptian president.
Thousands of Egyptians have participated in almost daily demonstrations in support of the Palestinians since Israel invaded the West Bank on March 29, calling on their government to intervene militarily in the Palestinian territories.

"Violence produces only more violence", said Mubarak in an interview in the government daily Akhbar Al-Yaum on Saturday. Translation: "If we tried violence against Israel, we'd get our a$$ kicked to the point we'd be wearing it as a hat".

Strange, is it not, how Israeli military strength causes some to be rational.

If Mubarak did attack Israel, he would find out in Cairo, along with Bagdad and Damascus, just what the
"SAMPSON OPTION", is...
COUNT-THE-FLASH-TO-BANG-TIME, HOSNI! If your not vaporized.

Well, Egypt did get the Sinai back based on a mutual pledge of non-aggression.
Would it be returned the next time? Good question.
Muslims are historically famous for weaseling out of treaties, beginning with Muhamed himself.

actually you could also translate that into "history has shown that everytime we attack Israel they end up with more land from us and it's counter-productive to our effort of pushing them into the sea."

I say we should knock em all out in one shot. Take their oil fields to subsidize our cost. Bush can say it will be more money for social security. Seniors should like that.
