(Editors Note: Thanks to Jim Bramlett, via Barbara Richmonds Special Jerusalem Report for providing these 20 facts which dramatically illustrate how history has been totally distorted for political and propaganda purposes in the present Middle East crisis. Unfortunately, for the most part, the worlds news media lets this information pass them by without critical analysis or incorporating it into their own editorial thrust, which often goes against Israel.
We recommend that you make a copy of these facts for your own information in discussing the Israeli-Palestinian situation with anyone who may be uninformed. We would also recommend sending it, by e-mail or letter, to the editor of your hometown newspaper, to your senators or congressman and, yes, even to our own United States President at the White House and members of his cabinet, especially Secretary of State Colin Powell.)
1. Nationhood and Jerusalem. Israel became a nation in 1312 B.C, 2,000 years before the rise of Islam.
2. Arab refugees in Israel began identifying themselves as part of a Palestinian people in 1967, two decades after the establishment of the modern State of Israel.
3. Since the Jewish conquest in 1272 B.C., the Jews have had dominion over the land for 1,000 years with a continuous presence in the land for the past 3,300 years.
4. The only Arab dominion since the Muslim conquest in 635 A.D. lasted no more than 22 years.
5. For over 3,300 years, Jerusalem has been the Jewish capital. Jerusalem has never been the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. Even when the Jordanians occupied Jerusalem, they never sought to make it their capital, and Arab leaders did not come to visit.
6. Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in Tanach, the Jewish Holy Scriptures. Jerusalem is not mentioned once in the Qur'an (Koran).
7. King David founded the city of Jerusalem. Mohammed never came to Jerusalem.
8. Jews pray facing Jerusalem. Muslims pray with their backs toward Jerusalem.
9. Arab and Jewish Refugees: In 1948 the Arab refugees were encouraged to leave Israel by Arab leaders promising to purge the land of Jews. Sixty-eight percent left without ever seeing an Israeli soldier.
10. The Jewish refugees were forced to flee from Arab lands due to Arab brutality, persecution and pogroms.
11. The number of Arab refugees who left Israel in 1948 is estimated to be around 630,000. The number of Jewish refugees from Arab lands is estimated to be about the same.
12. Arab refugees were INTENTIONALLY not absorbed or integrated into the Arab lands to which they fled, despite the vast Arab territory. Out of the 100,000,000 refugees since World War II, the Arabs are the only refugee group in the world that has never been absorbed or integrated into their own peoples' lands. Jewish refugees were completely absorbed into Israel, a country no larger than the state of New Jersey.
13. The Arab - Israeli Conflict: The Arabs are represented by eight separate nations, not including the Palestinians. There is only one Jewish nation. The Arab nations initiated all five wars and lost. Israel defended herself each time and won.
14. The PLO's Charter still calls for the destruction of the State of Israel. Israel has given the Palestinians most of the West Bank land, autonomy under the Palestinian Authority, and has supplied them with weapons. [See Fatah Charter/Constitution.]
15. Under Jordanian rule, Jewish holy sites were desecrated and the Jews were denied access to places of worship. Under Israeli rule, all Muslim and Christian sites have been preserved and made accessible to people of all faiths.
16. The United Nations (U.N.) Record on Israel and the Arabs: Of the 175 Security Council resolutions passed before 1990, 97 were directed against Israel.
17. Of the 690 U.N. General Assembly resolutions voted on before 1990, 429 were directed against Israel.
18. The U.N. was silent while 58 Jerusalem Synagogues were destroyed by the Jordanians.
19. The U.N. was silent while the Jordanians systematically desecrated the ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives.
20. The U.N. was silent while the Jordanians enforced an apartheid-like policy of preventing Jews from visiting their holy sites at the Temple Mount and the Western Wall.
Who had won it in a card game from the Outtasites.
Fact The first permanent settlements appeared in Israel 10,000 BCE and the first walls at Jericho were built 7,000 BCE. This means that civilization predates the Jews arrival by at least 6,000 years.
2. Arab refugees in Israel began identifying themselves as part of a Palestinian people in 1967, two decades after the establishment of the modern State of Israel.
Fact The indigenous peoples have called themselves many things over the millennium. This has no relevance on the argument.
3. Since the Jewish conquest in 1272 B.C., the Jews have had dominion over the land for 1,000 years with a continuous presence in the land for the past 3,300 years.
Fact Although the Israelites began to returned to the region in about 1200 BCE Israel was united not united until 990 BCE by King David. The Assyrians conquered Palestine in 824 BCE and completed the conquest of the entire region in 710 BCE. From this point until the creation of the nation of Israel in 1949 Israel only existed as a vassal state. In the 10,000 year history Jews have had dominion for less than 300 years.
4. The only Arab dominion since the Muslim conquest in 635 A.D. lasted no more than 22 years.
Fact - Muslim domination began when Omar defeated the Byzantine army at the Yarmuk River (in Syria) in 636 AD. Although the center of dominion shifted due to internal politics and political schism between Shiites and the Sunnis, Muslim dominion lasted over 1200 years, with the exception of the interruption during the Crusades.
5. For over 3,300 years, Jerusalem has been the Jewish capital. Jerusalem has never been the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. Even when the Jordanians occupied Jerusalem, they never sought to make it their capital, and Arab leaders did not come to visit.
Fact The status of Jerusalem being a capital was not established until King David made it so by installing the Ark of the Covenant in a Temple he had built. Even after this occurred, Israel split into two kingdoms, Israel and Judah, in 928 BCE over tax issues, a mere 22 years after the founding of the temple. Jerusalem is an insignificant city and has been for thousands of years.
6. Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in Tanach, the Jewish Holy Scriptures. Jerusalem is not mentioned once in the Qur'an (Koran).
Fact - Jerusalem is mentioned hundreds of times in the New Testament. Does that establish a Christian claim tot he city?
7. King David founded the city of Jerusalem. Mohammed never came to Jerusalem.
Fact - Jerusalem's history stretches back about 5,000 years. About 2500 BC, the Canaanites inhabited the city. Later, Jerusalem became a Jebusite citadel. King David captured the city from the Jebusites in 990mBCE.
8. Jews pray facing Jerusalem. Muslims pray with their backs toward Jerusalem.
Fact Both have it wrong.
9. Arab and Jewish Refugees: In 1948 the Arab refugees were encouraged to leave Israel by Arab leaders promising to purge the land of Jews. Sixty-eight percent left without ever seeing an Israeli soldier.
Fact They left during a Jewish Terrorist Campaign in which hundreds of civilians and British soldiers were assassinated.
10. The Jewish refugees were forced to flee from Arab lands due to Arab brutality, persecution and pogroms.
Fact This may be true, but has nothing to do with the indigenous peoples of Palestine. 11. The number of Arab refugees who left Israel in 1948 is estimated to be around 630,000. The number of Jewish refugees from Arab lands is estimated to be about the same.
Fact It was the influx of European Jews with no historical claim to the region that resulted in the seizure of thousands of square kilometers of Aram and Palestinian land.
The Arab refugees retained both their national identities and claims to their lands. Other Arab nations were only host nations.
13. The Arab - Israeli Conflict: The Arabs are represented by eight separate nations, not including the Palestinians. There is only one Jewish nation. The Arab nations initiated all five wars and lost. Israel defended herself each time and won.
Fact The population of Jordan is 70% Palestinian.
14. The PLO's Charter still calls for the destruction of the State of Israel. Israel has given the Palestinians most of the West Bank land, autonomy under the Palestinian Authority, and has supplied them with weapons. [See Fatah Charter/Constitution.]
Fact - The PLO does not recognize the right of Israel to exist, this is different than the statement.
15. Under Jordanian rule, Jewish holy sites were desecrated and the Jews were denied access to places of worship. Under Israeli rule, all Muslim and Christian sites have been preserved and made accessible to people of all faiths.
Fact Today Israeli snipers are firing into the Church of the Nativity. Christian sites are preserved only because they are good for tourism and to garner western aide.
16. The United Nations (U.N.) Record on Israel and the Arabs: Of the 175 Security Council resolutions passed before 1990, 97 were directed against Israel.
Fact The UN was not unanimous against or for Israel. Perhaps they were balanced and correct. Israel is NOT without sin.
17. Of the 690 U.N. General Assembly resolutions voted on before 1990, 429 were directed against Israel.
Fact The UN was not unanimous against or for Israel. Perhaps they were balanced and correct. Israel is NOT without sin. 18. The U.N. was silent while 58 Jerusalem Synagogues were destroyed by the Jordanians.
Fact This is not a UN issue. The UN had no jurisdiction over this matter.
19. The U.N. was silent while the Jordanians systematically desecrated the ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives.
Fact This is not a UN issue. The UN had no jurisdiction over this matter.
20. The U.N. was silent while the Jordanians enforced an apartheid-like policy of preventing Jews from visiting their holy sites at the Temple Mount and the Western Wall.
Fact Israel will not endorse the Right of Return to exiled Palestinians.
Is that a fact?
No.

Barbara Richmond is an evangelist travelling throughout the world bringing the Christian churches and the Jewish people together. Barbara spent seven years in a Catholic convent training to be a nun and left right before taking her final vows because she recognized a problem in the Catholic SYSTEM that didn't fulfill her desire to know the Lord in a more personal way.
She and Jim both have very high level contacts here in the U.S., and Barbara has extremely level contacts in Israel.
My wife and I hade the great priviledge of attending bible study classes with Jim, Barbara, and Barbara's husband Mike for over a year in time. There were only about ten of us in this very special small group.
During 2000, My wife and I went to Israel with a tour group of twenty who were led there by Barbara. She takes about four tour groups there every year. She just recently returned from one tour and is preparing to take another group there.

Dear friends:
The late Gordon Lindsay (1906-1973) was a great Christian leader and scholar. His ministry and school, Christ for the Nations, in Dallas, Texas, has produced many laborers for the mission field and has been a major force in helping to fulfill the Great Commission, and still is.
Linsay's book, "God's Plan for the Ages, as Revealed in Bible Chronology" was first written in 1940, since updated, and is a classic. It is an excellent resource of Bible chronology from Adam to the present, and in it Lindsay describes and illustrates many biblical cycles. Here is an interesting excerpt from Appendix III, written sometime later by this great saint before he went to be with the Lord on April 1, 1973 -- 29 years ago:
