Couric Begs Blair to Blast Bush
The Today Show

Posted on 04/05/2002 3:25:02 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

The Today Show just finished airing an interview that Katie Couric recently conducted with British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Blair will be meeting today with President Bush today in Texas.

The entire tenor of the beginning of the interview was to invite Blair, virtually to beg him, to criticize President Bush's policy on theIsraeli/Palestinian conflict.

First question: "the New York Times has said that President Bush has failed to understand the seriousness of the problem, and has sent confusing messages. Do you agree?"

When Blair said he did not agree, Katie followed up; "but the policy has not been working. Shouldn't Pres. Bush have been doing something more dramatic?"

The interview was conducted in the UK. Katie will of course take any opportunity to criticize President Bush. But I find particularly grating the notion of an American going abroad to interview an important foreign leader and then to press him to criticize our President and our foreign policy.

Don?t you just love it when the quintessential Valley Girl attempts to do what could be an important interview. The networks will never get it right.

Are you hoping to have the same effect on Katie that you had on Bryant Gumbel? Heheheh.

Katie is one of those people I would like most to see humbled. Seriously humbled, like force-marched through the streets of New York with a sign that says "collaborator" around her neck.

Wouldn't that be nice? For those who didn't follow yesterday's posts, just about one hour after I posted a thread describing Bryant Gumbel's attacks on a Jordanian diplomat for not being sufficiently tough on Israel, CBS announced that Gumbel was leaving.

Somehow I have a sneaky feeling that my power to make and break the careers of major media figures will not be so effective when it comes to The Perky One!

Amen and amen, Miss Marple. Perky Little Kommie Katie needs to have the name of that stupid little TV program of hers changed to "The DNC Daily".

They should also show more cartoons; that would appeal more to their viewership.

It sounds like Blair stuffed Ms. Couric. I did not see the interview, but from reading your post is looks like he essentially told her that any moron could see that there is nothing else useful to be done that we are not already doing. I suppose that Blair could have shut her up had he made some comment to the effect that Clinton's constant intervention was one of the primary causes of the current state of affairs, but while that is obviously true, it would not be appropriate for Blair to say in public.

Yes, I think you read things right. Despite much less support in the UK for Israel and for US foreign policy, Blair has been a staunch ally, and he was not about to let Lil' Katie drive a wedge between him and President Bush, particularly on the eve of a summit.

Just think of it -Katie really tried to undermine the meeting between the two leaders. Nothing would have pleased her more than to have lured Blair into some criticism of Pres. Bush that would have soured the tone of the meeting.

Is this the same person who:

1) Got an new contract that gave her a rather large amount of money?

2) After getting her new contract, complained about how hard it was with her working hours.

I guess we will have to excuse this aging valley girl, after all she has to get up early in the morning to dye her grey hair, apply a heavy base of makeup to cover the normal aging wrinkles and give instructions to her livein maid on her tasks for the day.

Then she must check her bak account to make sure all her millions are safe, take her limo to work and start her very busy day.

Then the real problems start, she tries to act like she has a clue of what the real world is about.

What a clueless, whining crybaby moron she is.

Have a dounut, you'll feel better.

All of the pundits and newsies have an inflated idea of their intellect and importance. Reams of copy, hours of air time, all devoted to criticizing every step of President Bush's policies and demanding that he do something different.

Of course, they never have any serious ideas, and most importantly, they were not elected and are not accountable.

I think it is time to remind everyone that Katie was a cheerleader in high school, not student council president.

Seriously humbled, like force-marched through the streets of New York (butt assed naked) with a sign that says "collaborator" around her neck.

Yeah! That would work.

For what it's worth, as much as I dislike Couric I think these are the kinds of questions she should be asking. BUT -- what makes it so dispicable is that she would never ask those type questions if it were BJ or Hitlery involved. So, don't flame me for defending her, I'm not. I'm just pointing out that it's her biasness that is the reall offense here.

What happened to Katy Couric's lips? I didn't see her for awhile and then when I next saw her on the tube she had these weird looking swollen lips.

Collagen injections will make her look like a plastic blowup doll instead of the whining, screechy, liberal, psychotic, paranoid, bitch that she is.

I saw this, and earlier I heard Matt Lauer mention something about an Israeli saying "if Clinton were still President, he would have been here with a solution blah, blah, blah."

This sudden blaming of Bush this week has really gotten me pissed. Not just the media, even here on Free Republic.

Now I have no dog in this hunt, although I tend to side with Israel if anything. But I DO support my president and the honor of the United States, and if it becomes a strategy of the left/Israelis/Palestinians/whatever to blame us for their own idiotic madness, simply because Bush didn't kowtow perfectly to whatever they demand, screw them.

I'm not Arab, I'm not Jewish, I refuse to let this influence my personal life, my daughter's, my wife's. This crap has been going on for thousands of years, it's not George Bush's fault.
