Pakistanis Missing From Ship

NewsChannel 3 has learned that four Pakistanis are missing from a ship that was in Hampton Roads last week.

The ship "Progresso," which is a Russian ship sailing under a Maltese flag, made a port of call in Chesapeake last Friday. When it left port on Sunday, four of its crew members were missing.

The INS emphasizes there's no reason to believe the four Pakistani nationals have an criminal intent. In fact, they checked out fine when the ship came into port.

But in a post 9/11 world, local authorities have been given their photos and descriptions. The photos are not being made available to the public. We want to emphasize that these men are not wanted for anything at this point beyond immigration issues.

Well thank god the INS cleared them. It makes me feel much better that the same agency who approved visas for Mohammed Atta less than a month ago is giving us the "All's well."

It is my understanding, from a very reliable source, that one of these individuals was on the terrorist watch list. They were allowed in on a visa waiver, although we do not have a visa waiver agreement with either Pakistan, Russia or Malta. I heard from a less reliable source that these individuals, Pakistanis by birth, were carrying Canadian passports. I think U.S. Rep. Tancredo's office has more info on this. Hope to learn more, and hope this story is wrong. If it's true, we have been betrayed again by those who run the INS, whose explanation again will be the Clintonian: "Mistakes were made."

(Correction: The INS approved his visa in July, 2001. It was only the NOTIFICATION OF APPROVAL which went out last month. They're still incompetant boobs, though...)

Thanx for the article. It's interesting to see someone in this country taking security seriously. Even better that it's near my home turf.

Why not post ALL individuals that are currently wanted by the INS on the internet?

The only thing good about “Progresso” is if it's in a can.

It would be no fun for the American public if the pictures were published. You can't doodle fake beards and moustaches on these pictures; teeth are already missing, etc.

Heck, it would be racist to actually show us what they look like.
