A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 3/13/02

President Bush held his fifth formal press conference today and played hardball with the press core and the Senate, especially concerning the Pickering appointment. Bush also hosted a few St. Patrick Day events today, including the New York Fire Department Emerald Society Pipe and Drum Corps. Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern was also in attendance, and presented President Bush with a basket of shamrocks. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya.

Being a bit of Irish meself, I sure would have voted for the President to be in a traditional Irish costume! Can you imagine the media's reaction to that? LOL!

Yeah, I'm a bit Irish myself but that has nothing to do with wanting to see Dubya in a kilt! LOL! I can't imagine the media's reaction, but I can imagine the Bush Babes' reaction!

When I met him (President Bush, that is), I made sure to look right into his eyes and they looked hazel to me.

That's my real guess too, hazel. Hazel eyes can look either green or blue, depending on what one is wearing. I think that once in a while they look blue, once in a while they look green, but most of the time, they look hazel.

When I saw President Bush, I was miles away from him in a huge autitorium. I could hardly see him, much less his eyes! LOL!

And I've always liked you, too! :-)

Now they'll probably tell us to go get a room or something. ;-D

Well, I managed to sneak around some guards and photographers to meet him at a charity dinner. I figured that since he was there, it was probably the one chance in my life to meet him, and my friend egged me on to break through the scrum of people who were surrounding him while he was being led around the front of the ballroom, being introduced to bigwigs.

And yes, I *am* the Queen of Run-On Sentences. :-D

Laura says his eyes are blue, I'll take her word for it since no one gets closer to him then her.

I'm still waiting for a report on the Dateline episode about Journeys with George. The little I saw, it seemed like they were trying to make a big point about the White House being upset, but other than that, I thought it look pretty favorable, yes?

For the record, when I met him, I swore his eyes were green but I will go along with blue or hazel. Whatever, the color, they are so expressive. W has many fine physical attributes and his eyes are one of them.

Thank you baseballmom!! I don't understand the debate here on his eye color when his own wife says they are blue. I met him in Texas when he was Governor (in his first term) Eyes is one of the first things I notice about people and George W. Bush's eyes are BLUE!!!!

On another note, I wish Dubya had the good sense not to appear with a terrorist like Gerry Adams. It really is obscene.

My thoughts exactly.

They are not right wing nuts. They are liberals and libertiarns. The President never had their support to begin with and never will. These people are what I call "One Issue Wonders" If they don't get their way on everthing they aren't voting for him. They are a bunch of losers.

Funniest part is the bill doesn't give amnesty as they are screeming about. If they ever bothered to check before screaming they would know that. Even Dick Armey was on Fox and said it does not give blanket amnesty or he would not have voted for it. I don't even waste my time taking to that bunch of whinners.

It is amazing to me how some on FR have worked themselves up into a virtual frenzy over this so-called amnesty business. I looked at the bill and it seems okay to me - employer sponsored, family relationship, application already on file, $1,000, etc. Doesn't bother me but some have their heads so far up their rears and have become so suspicious they can't think straight. Even Hannity and Rush were all over this today, as well. I love this thread - it's much calmer.

Did anyone catch the snippets of "Journeys with George" by Ms. Pelosi on Dateline tonight? What a hoot! When W was dancin' on stage (lotsa hip action) for a few seconds I thought, If Lawgirl sees this she is gonna swoon.

CRITIC'S NOTEBOOK

Film Festival Shows Somber Tone of the U.S.

By ELVIS MITCHELL

...Another documentary, "Journeys With George," is Alexandra Pelosi's digital minicam view from inside the 2000 Bush presidential campaign. (Ms. Pelosi, an NBC News producer, began "Journeys" as a side project. It moved to center stage when her candidate was elected.) It takes aim at several journalists but is most fascinating because of the way it dwells on the fine line between being the manipulator and the manipulated. Mr. Bush and Ms. Pelosi are canny stalkers, he with his jovial, fraternity-president charm and she with her loud outfits and an apparently scattered manner that masks her determination.

Her shopping mall technology probably made Mr. Bush drop his guard a bit, and she gets more out of her camera just because of propinquity. But he never lets his guard down too far; his savvy with the press means he's always playing the candidate at some level, and she's charmed by the character he's playing.

"Journeys" is a sea change from the tradition of Timothy Crouse's "Boys on the Bus," primarily because it may well be the last opportunity for such a worm's-eye view of a presidential candidate. It's hard to believe campaign advisers will ever be this relaxed and accommodating around the press again. ("Journeys With George" has just been picked up by HBO.)...

Coming soon to a TV near you???

HBO?? Wow, this is cool. I was just selecting my new dish service and I decided on keeping HBO although I hardly ever watch it. In fact, I was trying to convince my husband that all we needed was FOX NEWS and the History Channel. Serrendipity strikes again.

Wphile, I am sorry to say that I didn't get to watch "Journeys with George" by Ms. Pelosi on Dateline tonight. My daughter (who has been married for a few days more than a month now) came by to visit and I had to turn the TV off. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do, not watching this program! I just knew that she would have been really offended if I kept the TV on.

Does anyone have this on tape by chance? I would gladly pay for a copy.
