After nothing but silence from Photopoint, the below form is now available on the Photopoint.com website. Check it out!!

Updated: Tue Feb 12 10:57:30 AST 2002

PhotoPoint.com is currently offline.

Please check back here (www.photopoint.com) for further developments.

I would like to assure people that their photos have not been lost, and are safe. However, due to the bandwidth, hardware, and labour costs, we are unable to put the site online.

Please take a moment to answer this survey. Only surveys with valid PhotoPoint username/password will be considered. Your first submission is the only one that will be taken into account. Please answer honestly, so we can do what is best for the membership.

This information will be useful in determining how best to move forward in allowing people to possibly get their photos back and/or have their photos online again. We are looking at various options for finding PhotoPoint members a new home.

Thank you for your feedback.

If enough of their users agree to buy a CD of their photos at $24.95 IF Photopoint is unable to get back online, I predict they will not be able to get back online.

Link to your own website. Go to a free hosting site like Netfirms or a dozen others. Your ISP may even provide you with a 'Personal Page' like AT&T does. Upload any images you want and link to them all day long.

They got my $20.00. and have captured all my photos. I should not have to pay to possibly??? get the photos back. The company executives should be placed in jail. They are trying to extort money without any guarantees.

Why in the world would anyone pay to "get their photos back"? Surely nobody is stupid enough to keep the only copy of their photos on somebody else's website. Are they?

Absolutely correct. This IS the easiest solution. The only rejoinder is to consider your alotted disk space on the free site (some of them are pretty restrictive). In other words, your pics cannot reside there permanently, but must be swapped out before storage capacity is exceeded.

Good point. However, Netfirms gives you something like 15 Mb of storage and there are others that give you up to 25 Mb. I have about 40 good pics on my hosting service (free) that I link to occasionally and I'm only using less than 2 Mb currently.
There is no doubt that you need to read the fine print to see what their limit is and also if they even allow linking. Some don't.
I had to try out 3 or 4 before I found one with no adds and really fast servers with 20 Mb of storage.

Nah - nah - nah... But for those needing a place that offers FREE off-site web-hosting for photos...here's one that's still alive: http://www.photogra.com/index.cfm?p=home&d=1 Even imagestation won't let you link anymore.

I want my photos back, but they aren't going to get $25 from me. They already took $30. GIVE ME BACK MY PHOTOS!
