Trump suggests when he might make VP pick as these four contenders reportedly emerge
NY Post ^ | May 2, 2024 | Diana Glebova

Former President Donald Trump has laid out the most concrete timeline yet for when he might select his running mate for the 2024 Republican ticket.

“I’ll be picking, but probably not too much before the convention, which I happen to be having in the great state of Wisconsin,” the presumptive GOP nominee told FOX 6 Milwaukee during a campaign visit to the battleground state Wednesday.

The Republican National Convention will be held in Milwaukee July 15-18. Traditionally, the vice presidential nominee will address the delegates on the penultimate night of the gathering.

A source familiar with the conversation previously told The Post that biotech mogul Vivek Ramaswamy is almost definitely out of the running for VP, while allies of the former president said South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem has “no shot” at the position after she recounted a 20-year-old story about killing her dog.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis also ruled himself out as Trump’s running mate in a February call with donors.

Bloomberg reported Thursday that the former president had narrowed his choices to four top contenders: North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and Republican Sens. JD Vance of Ohio, Marco Rubio of Florida and Tim Scott of South Carolina.

I’m with you (as to the 4 listed). JD Vance has been good lately.

But the VP should be TX Gov Abbott. Big, important state. He’s got the biggest issue in his hip pocket; plus he checks one box.

I don’t think so, but perhaps you have more information than me. Show me something that proves he’s a con-man and I’ll will certainly look at it.

The most important VP pick in a long, long time. Trump said earlier that its not important, which I disagree with.

Is MAGA really scott or rubio? Now way. Trump, while in government has not been impressive with his picks for office and management.

“JD Vance. The others are worthless.”

I voted for Vance. I was somewhat concerned because he was absolutely a "Never-Trump" and is even on video saying as much. However, he had several meetings with Trump, and earned a Trump endorsement here in Ohio.

His conversion to Trump seems genuine, and I would be all in for him to become VP.

“Bloomberg reported...”

As far as anyone needs to read, really.

But Tim Scott?

Lee Zeldin, from New York, would be the best VP choice, IMHO. JD Vance should remain as a U.S. Senator, and Doug Burgum should remain as a governor. Plus, Burgum looks too much like Dracula, which would be a noticeable negative distraction. Rubio is a RINO from Florida, so what’s up with this pick? Tim Scott is a safe but boring pick. None of these four mentioned VP possibilities would help Trump in gaining many undecided voters and in gaining the total womens’ vote. The total womens’ vote has gone against the GOP way too many times, and it seems like this will be the case, yet again!

not fair to compare his level of experience in 2017 and dependency on advisors with his savoir-faire now. he knows who belongs in his trusted inner circle. it’s precisely the latter that makes him more attractive than anyone else - who would have a dramatic learning curve in DC. and we don’t have that kind of time.

No proof other than intuition and common sense. Trump already called him out for trying to get votes in the primary because “The only way to help Trump is to vote for me”. I’ve seen his type before.

So true. Hopefully she won’t become the next Stormy Daniels for Trump if he’s been messing around with her behind the scenes wink wink

There is a segment of the women’s vote that is persistently anti-Trump. To chase that vote at any expense is foolish. The bottom line is that there really is no VP Trump could pick that would win them over.

Of the four I’d go with Rubio. Think about Latin American politics. Argentina is gaining libertarian traction just like Poland did with Thatcher in Britain and a polack in the Vatican. Milei got it started and is taking his show on the road. El Salvador is dealing with MS-13 types and Cuba will some day be free. Rubio could throw gasoline on Cuba’s fire and bring the country back into the US graces, minus the gambling and whore houses. Sure he’s a rino but Trump would have him over a barrel should he stray.

I doubt its any of them. Especially not Rubio or Scott. Maybe Vance and Burgum are on the list but I’ve always heard it was Mike Flynn.

removing an R senator would be unwise, especially so long as Bernie the Red remains (more or less) vertical

We need to turn away from Europe. They’re still fighting and what has it done for us lately? Latin America is less tribal, a potential gold mine of growth given the examples of Chile under Pinochet and the ups and downs in Brazil. Think of the Asian tigers and it’s progress over the last 40 years. Help Mexico turn southward.

Trump absolutely MUST pick a VP that will immediately take over the presidency if Trump is taken out by the Deep State.

That rules out Rubio, Scott, Gabbard or any host of lightweights. For this reason I think it should be General Flynn, someone who knows all the maneuvers and labyrinths of Washington DC.

The number of US-born presidential candidates removed by a court from a ballot stands at zero. That number is not going to change.

“NBC” is a knitting circle, with meetings held every four years.

This is fake news. And even if it were real, Trump is a long way away from making his announcement, so he could easily change his mind.
