This it the most blatantly unconstitutional bill ever passed and an act of utter treason, eviscerating the fundamental right of free speech.
The GOP should disband after this.
Anyone supporting this abomination is not even remotely a conservative. More like cultists.
Johnson clearly has, for reasons we can only speculate on, had a change of heart in the sort of legislation he feels needs to be brought to the floor and supported.
“The meaningful part of it is meant to criminalize free speech, as you correctly point out. “
He could have just said that he would stop federal funding of any colleges at which people are being blocked from entering on account of race, color or creed, or being harassed or assaulted, and the administration does nothing. Simple. Fundamental. Unquestionably the right thing. But noooooooo! That would be what a real POTUS would do. Instead we get this sh!t show.
What I don’t get is how speaking is “discrimination”.
I have no doubt that this will be used to classify even true statements as “antisemitism” but in order for it to be “discrimination” wouldn’t it have to involve some kind of action?
Exactly.
I’m thinking right now of a letter to the editor which I unsuccessfully submitted to local newspapers. I’m thinking now that one word was probably the problem. I said that Indiana plaintiffs sued Indiana over their fetal protection law, saying their religion (Judaism) requires abortion if it would make the woman happy. And the court ruled that Indiana is guilty of breaking their own religious freedom law if they protect “legal persons” that a religion says may/must be killed.
I’m thinking if I had left out the word “(Judaism)” the letter might have been accepted.
The same argument is being used by Satanists in FL, I believe. But FL hasn’t had a court claim that license to kill “legal persons” is religious freedom.
Is a simple statement of what the plaintiffs claimed about their own religion now “anti-semitism” and “discrimination”?
Prohibited and illegal antisemitism will be whatever the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) says it is. This organization has been given the power, in the legislation itself, to define antisemitism.
I loath this pro-terrorist protestors and I hope Israel kills every last Hamas rat...
But, yeah. This law sucks.
