The Most Feared and Least Known Political Operative in America (Trump’s Susan Wiles)
Yahoo ^ | April 26, 2024 | Michael Kraus

WEST PALM BEACH — Susie Wiles, the people who know her the best believe, is a force more sensed than seen. Her influence on political events, to many who know what they’re watching, is as obvious as it is invisible. The prints leave not so much as a smudge. It’s a shock when she shows up in pictures. Even then it is almost always in the background. She speaks on the record hardly ever, and she speaks about herself even less. …

Wiles is not just one of Trump’s senior advisers. She’s his most important adviser. She’s his de facto campaign manager. She has been in essence his chief of staff for the last more than three years. She’s one of the reasons Trump is the GOP's presumptive nominee and Ron DeSantis is not. She’s one of the reasons Trump’s current operation has been getting credit for being more professional than its fractious, seat-of-the-pants antecedents. And she’s a leading reason Trump has every chance to get elected again — ….. Trump, of course, is Trump — he can be irritable, he can be impulsive — and this campaign is facing unprecedented stressors and snags. It’s a long six-plus months till Election Day. For now, though, nobody around him is so influential, and nobody around him has been so influential for so long.

There is nobody, I think, that has the wealth of information that she does. Nobody in our orbit. Nobody,” top Trump pollster Tony Fabrizio told me. “She touches everything.”

“Certainly,” said former Florida Republican Rep. Carlos Curbelo, “she’s one of the most consequential people in American politics right now.”

“And nobody,” said veteran Florida lobbyist Ronnie Book, “even knows who she is.”

Mark….
This article explains so much.
Mercury, on the first glance, definitely has an off putting air of uniparty about it.
It is quite possible they, the uniparty, is deciding whether it is better to “let Trump win in November” so long as they have inside players to control him.
There is no way Biden will make it intellectually to November, and I am sure they are questioning strongly how they can keep their power.

Dear Lord, guide and strengthen us,
Tatt

Making fun of a smarmy ahole who actually believes Brandon is a great man who has done wonderful things has its place in life. But honestly speaking.......dealing with ignorance in a person has limitations in gratification. Just knowing there is someone that stupid can be depressing.

Have a nice evening.

You will find no post where I’ve said Brandon is a great man.

I saw the obituaries. And a few thumping their chests. Cute. Gave me a chuckle. But all I did was take a vacation to get rested and tanned.

You were suspended, not vacationing.

And your suspension is not my goal. Your banning is.

My suspension coincided with an already planned vacation. But why even bother with me?

Liar.

But why even bother with me?

Because you are a stealth liberal.

Thanks for the link to the original Politico story.  I read it and I agree that it's worth reading this lengthy story (even with its "gratuitous snark" comments) you eloquently warned us about!

I love the insider knowledge of how political operatives work. This was illuminating. And the story showed Susan Wiles' savvy at working with the press and other influencers.

There are also some fabulous full-screen pictures that come with the story.  All in all, this is good journalism and it may very well be that Susan encouraged the article be published because it will appeal to women on the fence who think Trump is too domineering.

If I'm right about that, we're bound to hear more from Susan Wiles in the months ahead.

She sounds to me in a way like Samuel Adams. I dictated an audiobook last year LINK: "Life and Times of Joseph Warren" written in 1868 by Richard Frothingham, and it set me off on other books about that era.

Samuel Adams is known today as a "rabble rouser" but back then, he was mostly a behind the scenes person. He preferrred the shadows, even if he was Joseph Warren's right hand man. Samuel Adams was far more likely to be working in the dark back rooms of a tavern than being on the front lines of a mob facing off the Tories or British army.

Hey rlmorel,

I spent a few minutes listening to the audiobook you send me the link to. You have a splendid voice for this reading such works.

It’s tragic how much the heritage of Paul Revere, John Adams, Samuel Adams and the rest of them has been hidden from the public — in part because searching for “patriots” takes to you to football sites.

And considering the current policies of the corrupt and misguided people running Massachusetts politics, it’s as if the heroes of the past never existed.

My initial thought is a large graphic based on a map that allows you to click and get a popup of facts about these people. I would be willing to create the visual website mechanisms for such as guide.

Work thinking about.

Very kind of you to say so...That was my first full length book I read on my own...and I learned a lot doing it. If I could, I would go back and do it again, but it took me a while, so...I don't think that will happen. I had poor recording equipment, and I didn't modulate my voice correctly, but...I learned.

Live and learn!

My next book, I thought I did a far better job at it, and the quality of the recording was better too: America's Retreat from Victory; The Story of George Catlett Marshall

I am reading another very short book The Capture of Fort William and Mary, but I haven't been able to dictate in nearly two months, I have a chronic bronchitis that kicked up, dang it. But it is an interesting story, and I have actually been to the site once, so it is interesting to me.

From Wikipedia: "...The Capture of Fort William and Mary took place in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on December 14, 1774, when local Patriots led by John Langdon stormed Fort William and Mary guarding the mouth of the busy seaport. They overcame a six-man caretaker detachment and seized the garrison's powder, which was distributed through several towns in the colony for potential use in the looming struggle against Great Britain. On December 15, 1774, patriots led by John Sullivan again raided the fort, this time seizing numerous cannons, later used in the pivotal Battle of Bunker Hill. The incident is significant as one of the first overt acts of the American Revolutionary War and the only battle to take place in the state of New Hampshire.."

I love your idea about the graphic based on a map that could be linked to on a website-it could show various links, pictures, etc. That is a great idea. If you are looking for help, I might be interested...:)

I got to thinking about it earlier in the week, one of the things about the audio books that we create about the Founding Fathers does is that it humanizes them.

I should try to make it a point to rant about that more often.

The Universities have only spent over a century de-humanizing and gutting them. I am sure I’ve probably made the point before but it really struck me this week, I have been re-listening to several sections of Frothingham.

Old historians didn’t just want to memorize stats and facts and figures and dates and numbers. They truly wanted to tell the story and memorialize the events in the proper order. Tell the STORY, a narrative, but not something fictionally made up.

Remember how Disney used to "humanize" American heros: Davy Crockett, Johnny Shilo.  The entertainment industry is thinking only of profits, not keeping the country united and fostering the right culture.

Maybe Truth Social can start doing such projects.

You make excellent points.

The best case in point of this “de-humanizing” effect is, oddly enough, George Washington. I have tried to read enough books about him to cobble together an impression of him as a person that is far, far better than anything I have ever seen in a history book. (To be fair, a history book cannot do that, but I think you get my point)

Sometimes this de-humanizing is deliberate, as is the case with Sen. Joseph McCarthy, and they had their excuse from day one while McCarthy was still alive.

With figures like Washington, Jefferson, et al, all it takes is the passage of time with Leftists to find excuses to demonize and de-emphasize them, which we see now.

That is why I admire your focus on this.
