On Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” White House National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby stated that Hamas doesn’t care about the Palestinian people and if they did, “they’d lay down their arms, they’d step aside, they’d release those hostages,” but they’ve refused hostage release offers. Kirby also stated that there have been too many civilians killed in Gaza and the number of civilian casualties “needs to be zero.”

There was a long youtube interview with a Jewish woman that was part of a group that prepared the dead for burial according to the strict Jewish rules.
She dealt with female bodies. In several cases they could not determine where the head would have been - the head needs to be placed in a certain compass direction. She said they did their best. She said that the Jewish burial rules do provide some latitude if the person was killed in war (which these victims were).

Palestinians by and large and by that it’s likely 95% in support of these terrorists or are the terrorists themselves. Our country is split 50/50 so not a fair analogy on your part.
I am reminded of the Geneva Conventions, which attempt rational, moral threads to grasp during wars’ barbarity. For my Navy experience pulverizing a major enemy base in Vietnam, I especially liked the obvious reading of Articles 28 and 29 of the Fourth Geneva Convention. The VC were responsible for any civilian deaths in the base we shelled. Those civilians qualified as Protected Persons within the enemy’s physical control and could not be used to render certain points and areas immune from military operations.
