Opening statements were underway in President Trump’s ‘hush payment’ trial in New York City on Monday morning.
Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s top prosecutor lied during his opening statement and claimed Trump “orchestrated a criminal scheme to corrupt the 2016 presidential election” when he paid porn star Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about their alleged affair.
Trump has denied the affair.
Bragg’s top prosecutor who gave the opening statement on Monday – Matthew Colangelo – previously worked in the Justice Department (Biden appointee) and is a lifelong left-wing activist.
“The defendant, Donald Trump, orchestrated a criminal scheme to corrupt the 2016 presidential election. Then he covered up that criminal conspiracy by lying in his New York business records over and over and over again,” prosecutor Matthew Colangelo – a former top Biden DOJ appointee – told jurors, according to AP.
Alvin Bragg indicted Trump last April on 34 felony counts related to ‘hush payments’ he made to Stormy Daniels.
Trump was accused of paying porn star Stormy Daniels, AKA, Stephanie Clifford, ‘hush payments’ through his then-attorney Michael Cohen in a scheme to silence her and stop the story about their alleged affair from being published in the National Enquirer.
The payments made to Stormy Daniels did NOT come from Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.
The payments were made through internal business records – there was no tax deduction taken and there was no obligation to file it with the FEC, according to Trump attorney Joe Tacopina.
Alvin Bragg didn’t explain what exactly he wanted to convict Trump of in the charging documents.
Bragg told reporters he doesn’t have to tell anyone what the underlying felony is.
This is a glaring example of a two-tiered justice system.
Recall that the FEC in 2022 fined Hillary Clinton and the DNC $113,000 for lying about funding the fake Russia dossier.
The FEC fined Clinton and said her campaign violated the rules because they failed to disclose payments funneled to Fusion GPS through DNC law firm Perkins Coie.
Hillary Clinton got a light slap on the wrist for her crimes while Trump is on trial in New York City.
But President Donald Trump sits in court and is abused and slandered by the prosecutors and presiding judge, a far left Trump-hater.
Democrats are destroying our justice system like everything else they touch before our eyes.

Colangelo will provide support to the Unit and deepen the Office’s relationships with stakeholders, drawing on his three years spent as the Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Labor, his work as Deputy Director of the Obama-Biden Administration’s National Economic Council, three years at the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, and seven years litigating fair housing and fair employment cases at the NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund.
Colangelo brings a breadth of relevant experience, most recently his two years at the U.S. Department of Justice, where he served in a senior leadership position and helped to oversee the Antitrust, Civil, Civil Rights, Environment and Natural Resources, and Tax Divisions, including review of significant hate crime matters. In his time at the New York State Office of the Attorney General, he was Chief Counsel for Federal Initiatives, leading more than eighty lawsuits challenging federal agency action on constitutional and statutory grounds.

When Bragg appointed Colangelo in December, CNN simply reported he was “a senior official in the US Justice Department and before that served as an attorney on the Trump Foundation investigation with the New York attorney general's office.”
But CNN failed to report Colangelo is a lifelong leftwing activist (including NAACP lawyer for 7 years) and senior Democrat political appointee for nearly 15 years:
- currently appointed to made-up position in Soros-backed Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg's office (to get Trump; first indictment ever of a former president; bogus, trumped-up charges previously declined by prior Manhattan DA, US Attorney, FEC, and Bragg himself)
- acting #3 in Biden Justice Department (then as #2 to radical #3 Vanita Gupta, when Biden and Garland appointed her; leader in politicizing and weaponizing Biden DOJ, including prosecuting Christians praying outside of abortion clinics while giving amnesty to abortion-industry activists terrorizing Catholic Churches, crisis-pregnancy centers, and Supreme Court justices and families in homes)
- senior lawyer for disgraced Democrat New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman (including his Executive Deputy Attorney General for Social Justice) (to get Trump) (Bragg served as chief deputy attorney general when Colangelo brought dozens of lawsuits against Trump administration and led investigations into Trump Foundation and Trump's finances)
- senior White House economic advisor to President Obama
- top aide to Obama Labor Secretary (and future DNC chair) Tom Perez
- top lawyer to Obama DOJ Civil Rights Division head Tom Perez
Colangelo has never served as a line prosecutor or defense attorney.
He is simply a senior Democrat operative, brought in by Bragg to get Trump.

No, no. You don't understand the rules. That only works if you are a Democrat. If Trump had contacted the FIB, they would have done a 6:00 AM raid on Trump to see if they could help Stormy find some evidence.

I would imagine going to the NYPD would probably work for him though.
This is one of those things I wish he would have handled differently.
Still won’t change my vote though. In fact, I haven’t seen Trump do anything that would make me want to change my vote. The things he’s being accused of are things that would have essentially been private not so long ago.

Not like the (R)N(C) has done *checks notes* A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G to counter the same. Hell, they actively worked AGAINST the Trump admin.
